Re: Bobby Gunn world bare knuckle champion.

Kimbo is active as he was signed to Bellator and fought in February (horrible performance, but he won), then also beat Frank Shamrock back in June of last year. I have not heard of Kimbo retiring and if anything prior to this his pro boxing career was going well; 7-0 (6 by KO). He did get suspended for a positive drug test so not sure he can even fight in a sanctioned fight here in USA….yut seems like this “Gun” mainly fights in Indian casinos so maybe...or in another country!

I know little about Bobby Gun, but from what I see he is mainly a boxer! Usually when a boxer does try to fight real MMA guy they get killed because they are to one dimensional and any smart MMA fighter knows to take them down where their weakness is. I know Kimbo is not known for his ground game, but he did compete in the Ultimate Fighter and was trained by Rashad on the ground. He did fairly well against Ken Shamrock (a great wrestler) and actually got out of a submission and came back and won so I am willing to bet his ground game is way better than Gun’s. I can’t find a weight for Bobby Gun, but he seems small and Kimbo is huge!

Plus Kimbo has a better lead on fighting Wanderlei Silva! http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/4/12/11411400/morning-report-kimbo-slice-to-wanderlei-silva-i-dont-mind-knocking

As Dada500 learned (and Kimbo), there is a big difference from bare knuckled backyard fighting than the MMA pros! You can also google "James Tony" to see how well boxing did in the UFC....last a entire 1 min and 41 seconds

You can't compare bare knuckle fighting to the UFC. Kimbo was only signed for his name, not his fighting and he's only being thrown hasbens to try and boost ratings. I'm not saying Kimbos done fighting but he would take a beating from anyone that's not 40 and cut off from steroids so that they can fight in sanctioned fights.

Re: Bobby Gunn world bare knuckle champion.

I think a lot of people don't realize that Kimbo is old too; he is 42 years old and in the fight game that is way past a fighters prime. This is also Kimbo’s biggest downfall because he has bad arthritis in his knees; main reason he left MMA and became a pro boxer. I did think Kimbo was a joke, but he put his work in and got into The Ultimate Fighter show and truly showed respect for MMA and worked hard to improve. I’ve also never heard one person say he isn’t a super nice guy and very different than what you would expect him to be like; humble. Kimbo did beat Houston Alexander, Tank Abbott, and a roided out Ken Shamrock…..and for getting into the game so late I feel he did very well. Then going 7-0 (6 by KO) in his professional boxing career showed his stand up was legit. I feel if Kimbo got into true MMA at an early age like other fighters, then we would have seen a different fighter who was more successful.

Overall I respect guys like Kimbo and Dada500 because they came from a super poor and violent neighborhoods and found a way to get out without selling drugs or becoming a criminal. They both did a lot for their community and gave many guys an opportunity and a way to get out….sure it was by fighting, but better than many other things they could have done. If anyone wants to learn more watch the free documentary on Netflix called Dawg Fight .

As for Bobby Gun, I think this is a tactic to try to get more attention and since he was crowned the champ, he should get a chance in MMA; if that is what he wants. I don’t feel he will be on the level to just get in, but I’d like him to go the route Kimbo did and compete on TUF show to see how far he gets. This would be the best way to find out if his training and conditioning is even ready. I’ll have to do some searching and watch some of his fights to see what I think about him, because honestly this was the first I ever heard of the guy.
