Hwy 7 was pretty good yesterday, a bit dusty up top with the mag chloride but good considering the time of the season.

Deer Creek, High Grade and Foxton are GTG. Some sand where you would expect but otherwise in great shape for March!

With the rapid snowmelt these last weeks, watch for rockfall. There were a few baseball sized rocks on P2P southbound between peaceful valley and camp Tahosa last weekend.

Teller 1 up to Cripple Creek, clean and clear
CR 67 from Cripple Creek to Divide, clean but pavement is pretty rough. Also has a greasy look so not too confidence inspiring.

Re: 2017 Canyon Conditions (keep updating)

Hwy 7 is sketchy AF, I guess mag chloride was sprayed down during the last storm. I felt the bike slide sideways on a couple of corners.
P2P is mostly clean, a few places with snowmelt crossing the road.
Coal Creek (CO72) clean from P2P to the railroad tracks, dirty between Pinecliff and Wondervue, we didn't go further east but it looked like more sand.

My garage has some dust bunnies in it but concrete is mostly clear so far this year. Waiting on replacing the 14's clutch before I take her out. It's getting more difficult as the days go by to wait.

Bear Creek is dirty all the way to Evergreen. It's OK but not great.

165 a bit ugly today with difficult to see dusty spots and lots of snowmelt running across in every other corner. I like these new roadsmart 3s though.

77 clean and clear, 126 down to Deckers a bit of gravel here and there, mainly by driveways and such. 67 back to WP clear.

Eastbound downhill side of wolf creek pass has construction cutting the middle of the lane out. Only partially refilled with gravel as of yesterday.

Re: 2017 Canyon Conditions (keep updating)

    Rode yesterday (06/08/17):

    - Central City Pkwy - clean and empty (yeah for mid-week)
    - P2P Small sand patches between Black Hawk and Rollinsville - Clear up to 7
    - Hwy 7 into Estes Park - Lots of construction, which is good cause that road is beat
    - Trail Ridge - Snow's melting fast, some run off, but little to now sand
    - Hwy 34 & 40 into Winter park - spring construction time... several lane closures
    - Berthoud Pass - excellent
    - Guanella Pass - Super clean and fun, some small run off areas, but the south side was clear all the way into Grant
    - 126 into Deckers - Same as always... watch for sand where the dirt roads intersect
    - 67 From Deckers into Sedalia - lots of construction, grading the dirt, repaving near Rampart

Came back from the Springs to Durango Canyon City, Gunnison, Lake City, South Fork, ect. Slumgullion Pass may very well be the best road in the state. It has all new pavement and their is never anyone out there. If you are looking for a road trip to a great road then you should add it to the list.

67 to Florence, 96 up the canyon clear; first 10 miles of 165 is chip seal loose gravel, after that clean and in good shape; Hwy 12 very nice road, 160 back across to Alamosa clear, except for one RV down in a deep ditch.
285-24 back home in real good shape;road work ongoing in BV. Branding Iron in BV served an excellent steak...

Most of the lower canyons are in good shape. Mt. Evans has a little snow on the shoulder still but the road is in good shape.

Had breakfast at The Branding Iron last Friday. Breakfast at Jan's on Saturday. Jan's has excellent food as well!

Did Independence Pass on Friday. Perfectly clear.

On Saturday, did the loop from BV to Leadville to Vail to Copper Mtn. back down to Leadville and back to BV. Perfectly clear as well.

No worries... plenty of other good roads around... and 67 from Divide to CC is torn up rough crap anyhow... way overdue for a repave.

At least they're fixing them, too much money being received by CDOT and our state roads are falling apart

Re: 2017 Canyon Conditions (keep updating)

The problem is too little money. The CDOT annual budget is approximately $1.4 Billion per year, while the need is in the 10's of billions per year. Shailen Bhatt is the Executive Director of CDOT and if you have ever heard him explain the needs vs. the available funds to fulfill those needs, you'd understand the financial problem that CDOT faces every year. Road projects are not free and they have to make hard choices given the available funds.
