That's what they want you to think, there's plenty of money to throw at this if politicians wouldn't up their cut every year. It's called they're thieves and we keep buying their lies. They're banking off the transplants and us while at it plus with ever rising taxes and also registration costs, open your eyes to what's actually going on and not to what they feed you.

So, I'm guessing they wrapped up the paving project on the south side of Tarryall?

Yep...old pavement is about 7 miles from 24, then all new to the reservoir. All in good shape with a few patches here and there.

Independence pass mix of mostly bumpy sections but clean. Black Canyon mostly smooth and very fun. Monarch very clean and smooth.

There is really only one way in and out of Black Canyon, so routes from there depend on where you are coming from/going to.

Never been out there before but coming from the Morrison and C470 area, seems like it's a good departure point for most destinations. Have to do Bishops castle too at some point.

Holler when you are ready to go to Bishops. Was just down there couple weeks ago.

Black Canyon is on Hwy 92, East end is off Hwy 50 past Gunnison. The West end you are coming from Hotchkiss or Crawford. Come down 133 from Carbondale, thats a good little road. 91 is a good little cutoff from 70 to Hwy 24.

I am headed out that way end of July most likely to do a 2 day loop to catch Douglas Pass; it's so far out of the way for me I plan to do some other roads like 65 along the edge of Grand Mesa, and Rim Rock in the Colorado National Monument park.

We're draggin' the toyhauler to Montrose in August for nine days to hit up everything down there. Can't wait!!

Gonna hit the free lift and mountain bike park in Telluride as well. (I know, the trails suck, but it's free!)

Yeah, route wise after the pass was Carbondale then south to the canyon and 50 most of the way back.

Make sure you do Unaweep Canyon 141. You can make a good day trip down 550; leave early and go do Mesa Verde if you haven't been there before.

+1 on hwy 141. I have ridden it several times, be sure to plan some time to check out the auto museum in Gateway. Interesting cars and a few bikes

CR 149 S from Hwy 50, towards Creede, FR 510 and North Clear Creek Falls is a neat road and photo op

Be aware the first 10 miles of 165 they are doing work on... not really chip seal so much but loose dirt and gravel... fine for posted but be very careful tossing it into a turn at any speed.

CO 77, be careful if southbound, right by Tarryall River ranch, FR214 is leaking gravel and dirt across both lanes. Northbound you can see it in plenty of time, and it is entering the corner.. SB you are leaned and coming out of the corner when you see it.

165 chipseal material still a bit loose in places and several places with sediment washed across on West side. All clear past the castle to Rye. Still a big pile of chip material by the road like they're going to do more.

Lefthand canyon. Uphill direction between intersection of Old Stage Rd and the Ward/Jamestown tee. Older diesel slick in mostly the right handers, need to take funky lines to avoid.

Re: 2017 Canyon Conditions (keep updating)

Bear Creek, fine with some mag chloride residue.
High Road (not high grade), messy and sandy.
N Turkey Creek, sand in the typical shady corners and hairpins
    S Turkey Creek, some sand.
Deer Creek, dusty, enough to slide the front end inadvertantly
    SH 105, fine

Warm weather this week but pretty much done with the sporty riding season, just chill and enjoy the curves.

Any reports from Deckers? Esp from Woodland Park side? We're sort of "southies" now.
