What Should I Do Over the Summer?

Are there any other teachers or retirees here who dread summers because they don't have enough to keep themselves busy? I'm planning to hit the gym a lot, do a few chores around my house, and take some day and weekend motorcycle trips. I can't really afford a rock star vacation, and I'm trying to get on the donor list so I can give my son one of my kidneys - so if that happens, I'll be out of commission for about a month.

Does anyone care to share what you do to maintain your sanity over the summer?

How would you like to get roundhouse kicked with a motorcycle?

You can't just give it to him? You have to be on a list?

Me and my friend Loni used to beach our boats at Cherry Creek swim beach on the summer days. After all, who's on the beach during a weekday? Strippers and teachers...

Summer is bike riding, jeep trailing and gun shooting time. Also when I try to get stuff done on the car/jeep projects, since the shop is too friggin cold mid-winter.

I'm currently getting screened to see if I'm a match for my son. If I am - then I can donate directly to him. But if I am not a match, the national registry will try to arrange a "trade" where I donate my kidney to someone else, and their relative donates one to my son. It's a nerve-wracking process.

I was thinking, if you match, what's the problem! Now it makes sense. I wish you the best!!

While no family situation is the same or even comparable, I do know what you're going through. Again, I wish you the best.

I rarely think of motorcycles without a little yearning. They are about moving, and humans, I think, yearn to move – it’s in our cells, in our desires. We quiet our babies with cyclic movement, and we quiet ourselves by going.

Mountain biking, and a lot of other pedal bike riding. I ride my Duke some too. And my 40 year HS reunion is next month, which should be interesting.
