    Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

My R1M is barely eleven months old with 8,200 miles and I'm on my fourth rear tire. No burn-outs, just hittin' it out of the turns.

I've got to definitely find something different for this thing!!

If they only made a 200. I really want to keep that 200 rear! Hopefully by the time this one wears out, more manufacturers will have 200s.

Re: Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

Pirelli and Bridgestone make the 200 series rear by far. I ran the PR4 on the Ducati on a 190/55 and the mileage out of them wasn't very great unfortunately, amazing wet grip though and good grip overall for a tourer tire. It's hard to get good mileage out of tires with a R1 though and the power it puts out. I'm surprised my friend has almost 3k out of his OEM Pirelli on his 15' RSV4R granted he doesn't ride very hard but still.

Hit up Dennis Stowers at Absolute Automotive, he's the Michelin rep at the MRA now, maybe he can guide you to something he has and it can work for your riding/bike.

I was getting 5,000+ on my last R1 with Michelin Pilot Power 2CT.

I believe it, I was pushing nearly 8k out of the single compound PP on my 07 R1. This new one is just a beast and half lol. Surprised I only got 6500 out of the PR4 on the Ducati

I had TFOG put on a new set of Michelin pilots last year. I chose them because riders on the Yamaha forums hyped them a lot. So far I really like them, and I am looking forward to putting a lot of miles on them over the summer.

Re: Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

My RR calls for a 200 series rear as well, and I only got 1800 out of the factory Pirelli SuperCorsa.

Since then I run the PR4 in 190, and have been really happy with them. I get a lot of miles, but they still offer really good grip levels.

Re: Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

Dean try the Q3 190. The actual tire size measures very close to the original RS10 and the longevity is probably double. Other than the Supercorsa SPV2 it's probably the only thing I would suggest. I think the Pirelli is still a little more tire as far as performance but it wouldn't be a bad choice.

No the PR4 only comes in 190, but it works just fine, and doesn't affect any of the electronics.

Re: Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

I run Q2/Q3 190/55 on my 12R... playing on good backroads I get about 1800 miles on a rear.... they work real well but don't expect sport touring life from them. Granted it is a heavier bike, so a lighter liter bike may see a little better life...

I just installed a set of 190 Q3 on the Duc, we'll see how they do

Q3 or Q3+? They have a new Q3+ now which is supposed to be better, and last longer. I had Q2's on one of my bikes, really liked them. I've had PR3's on another bike, liked them. Really depends on whether you are looking for a sport tire (Q3 or similar) or a sport touring tire (PR3/4 or similar), because there is a trade off between mileage and grip.

Re: Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

The new Sportmax III is supposed to be the best sport touring tire, altho a couple of the Metzlers got good reviews as well. i have PR4's on the Beemer and they seem to work well so far... I ran the old Roadsmarts on the 12R and they did in the 5K range on the rear but grip falls off pretty quick around 3 k.

I like the Q3 as a trackday/street tire. For sport touring longevity the roadsmart 3s seem to be holding up a little better than the Pr4 but haven't done back to back at same mileage. RS3 doesn't look to be available in 200 either though.

How are the RSIII compared to the PR4, ride feel edge grip? Looking for real world feedback vs advertising....thanks!

New vs new I'd say about the same but the RS seems to feel a little lighter. Have about 1800 on them and still feel the same.

Re: Hey Gramps!! You weren't kidding!!

So, I put Michelin Power RS on a few months ago and what a difference! 2,500 miles and hardley any signs of wear. The Bridgestones would have been shit by now.

Another really good thing is there is a big difference in tire profile between the two. I thought I was just getting old and didn`t enjoy turning the bike as much anymore. Nope! Now that I have the Michelins on, the bike just lays over and turns.

I raced on Michelins, so I guess that`s what I`m used to.....
