    Applying for Bonded Title

So the R6 I bought has a titling mess. I went to the DMV today to apply for a title since I never received one when I bought it, and the guy I bought it from never had one either. So I figured I'd finally get a title for it and it would be easy. Apparently there's no record of the VIN in the Colorado system. So now I have to get a bonded title for it, if I even want a title (race bike, so not trying to register it for the street). Has anyone gone through this process? Is it worth the jumping of the hoops and the money? Or should I just continue to sell it with a bill of sale like the last 2 people?

That's what I was thinking. The extra money for a title would be nice. But the DMV clerk gave me a big packet of steps to take to get it done, and there's no guarantee that I'll get a title in the end.

So how does a bike not have a title? Was it purchased new as a race bike and never titled at any point in it's life?

yeah dude it is a long and painful process, takes years and if something doesn’t add up, they won’t give you a title at all and may even seize the bike.

I converted it into a race bike, but it was on the street with the guy before the guy I bought it from. Could have an out of state title somewhere and the owner never transferred it to a Colorado title. The DMV can't look up a VIN to find what state it has a title in, I'd need to buy that myself. I really don't know where it is or why it doesn't have one. My guess is lazy people. I do know that it's not stolen, so that's always a plus.

Serious brain damage on a bonded title, definitely not worth it for a track only bike.
