Leadville? That'd be a great, though long for noobs, ride. What about MoCo to Squaw Pass to Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs, then Central City Pkwy back to Golden? Mebbe for me cause we're having some remodeling done.

Nope it's only douchebaggery if I wheelie 88 times. This has been covered already.

Since MOCO is being selfish with their parking lot we're not going to start there anymore. They have a "10 Minute" time limit on how long you can hangout and wait for your group. We're going to meet at the Golden 7-11, probably do Golden Gate to P2P then on up to Estes. Maybe when summer's finally set in I'll find a way to justify a Leadville trip. It's almost always a fun ride, but like you said, can be long for newer riders.

Also, it's looking to be pretty warm on Saturday, so I'm thinking it'll be a good day to ride.

WHERE: Golden 7-11 (I'll Google it)
WHEN: 08:00 with KSU sometime shortly thereafter
    TO: Somewhere with paved roads

Fooking loving it mang. Everyone with MRA has been great. This FOG won't be sporting any single digit plates but having a blast trying

Of course it depends on the route, but isn't Estes an all day ride. Why is Leadville too much for a noob?

I say MOCO's new policy is great! Get the fuck to the meet spot, get gas, get to freakin' ridin'!! Ten-minutes is plenty of time to gas up, take a piss, grab a nasty-ass hot dog w/ two pumps of disgusting chili and cheese ooze. I love those things!! Kind of sucks burpin' 'em up in the helmet, though. Same with Long John Silver's, mmmmmmmm cod fumes in a helmet....

Great morning for a mellow cruise up Golden Gate, wish I could have stayed out longer. Should have used my camera with a faster frame rate this one was having trouble keeping up. https://youtu.be/MBdQa4Dl3s8

They did a bunch of patch paving on Golden Gate. It's not bad right now, just have to watch the transitions. Won't even be noticeable after a few weeks of traffic.

It went well. No douchebaggery or performance awards. Group size fluctuated from 8 down to 3 with folks that needed to split off early. Went back up to 8 after lunch with 2nd part of group that started later. Roads were mostly clean and enough gaps in traffic for nice pace.

My plumber's crack needed a proper airing out.

@Kim-n-Dean, MOCO's policy is great if all you're doing is showing up, gassing up and leaving, but if you're waiting for other people or trying to stage a group ride it's counter-productive. As for Leadville, the ride itself isn't too much for a noob, but rather it's a long ride - easily eight to ten hours round trip when you take into account a lunch stop. I was trying to keep this ride at about the four to five hour mark because people have other things going on in their lives and sometimes can't spend all day out on their bikes. They have kids, jobs, responsibilities around the house, etc. In fact, of the eight of us who started at 7-11 five peeled off within the first hour. So, yes, Leadville was too far for a "n00b" ride. But the roads are still there, according to Google Maps. Feel free to start at MOCO and ride to Leadville all you want. Hell, depending on the day, I may even join you, but it wasn't going to be this ride.

But yes, the ride was fun, there were no performance awards (as far as I know) and while there was traffic, it wasn't so think in most places that we couldn't have fun.
