Alex Jones/Info Wars - Statement on YouTube shutdown

Agree with the guy or not, this is wrong and getting out of hand. Now people can be silenced because the mass media wants it?? And sure, I get it these are all private companies that have removed Info Wars. But now we are starting down that slippery slope of silencing people just because their opinions aren't lock and step with the establishment agenda.

Sure he comes up with conspiracy theories and some odd ideas. Some of his political commentary and analysis is bang on the money though. He's always got good information and good interviews. He(or his team) actually goes out and talks to real people at rally's and protests.

This goes back to "If you don't like what someone is saying, change the channel to something you do like."

I don't like the garbage(and it is garbage) that's on CNN or MSNBC or ABC. So guess what?? I never watch those channels. I don't want to listen to a bunch of beta wimps spew their liberal idealogy. So I never even land on their channels. However, I believe that these same beta's be allowed to have their platform for their freedom of speech.

See this is what I don't understand about Liberals. It's o.k. if they do it, but as soon as someone else does it. Well then it's time to ban them. When I look at a liberal/democrat all I see are big hypocrites. And I'm not talking about politicians(that's a given they are hypocrites). I'm talking about regular people. They talk out of both sides of their mouth as well.

    Here are some examples:

Liberals are all about saving children from Gun Violence. They hold marches and want to ban those mean and scary black rifles. Yet, in the same breath will advocate for Abortion rights and the termination of babies on a daily basis. Oh I get it, they only care about kids when it's beneficial and pushes the agenda. In the womb, it's irrelevant.

Liberals are all about women empowerment, protection and education. Yet, when a woman wants to protect herself with a firearm(exercise her 2nd Amedment) then liberals are up in arms(pun intended) because that same woman is now promoting the gun lobby and gun violence. So wait? It's better that she gets attacked?? Oh I see, it adds to their statistics that they need.

Liberals are all about free speech and having their voices heard, via protests and getting in people's faces. Yet, when a conservative wants to have a radio show or YouTube channel that promotes conservative values. Then they want to shut down as it's now considered "hate speech". I see now, do as I say, not as I do. That's what they mean...

Liberals want all the guns taken away, yet are perfectly fine with the Government having all of the weapons, yet they don't trust the government and think it's ruining our lives. So, how exactly does that work???

Liberals apparently are under some sort of belief that Socialism/Communism are a viable plan. Yet, it hasn't worked in China, the former Soviet Union, Venezuela and whoever the hell else in Earth's history tried to implement such a terrible idea. Because in Communism the proletariat gets f**ked over even moreso than anything comparable in Capitalism. Least with Capitalism, you work, you get paid. In Communism, you work and someone else gets paid(yeah, the lazy people).

Liberals are o.k. with illegal immigrants coming to this country, committing crimes and actually killing and raping the US citizens. Yet, when a conservative wants a simple plan to stop this, we're the racists and bad guys. Hell, I'm even cool with a nice giant wall on the southern border.

O.k. rant over. Really not a rant either. Just can't believe so many companies are going out of their way to censor someone for their opinions and ideas.

Why is it that consumers are encouraged to change the channel but broadcasters shouldn't have the same choice? Alex Jones is an opportunistic huckster that preys on the stupid by feeding them bullshit.

Facebook has a 120 Billion market cap. Like any business, it's reputation directly affects its value. So why can't Zuckerburg say to his board, "I don't want to be in the moron business. Jones' low IQ content devalues our brand. Let the mouthbreathers find it somewhere else."

Broadcasters or cable networks do have that same choice as a consumer. Especially if they are a private channel. The problem I have and many have is that they are doing this all under the guise of self-righteous free speech. These networks claim to support the 1st Amendment with all their heart and that they let nothing stand in the way of journalism. Then why are they the first one's to suppress, bully and silence those that don't share the same narrative???

That's the problem I have with it all. Because if they do it to one person, they are going to start doing it to others and sooner or later everyone else that doesn't subscribe to their BS agenda.

And sooner or later, they're going to get to someone you like to listen too.

I don't buy into all of Jones' nonsense. I don't believe in the lizard people, or aliens that are visiting us. But the thing I have to give the guy credit for is his political analysis. On many occasion, he's mentioned something that will happen(political) and several days later the mainstream report it as happening. So the guy is tuned in and knows a thing or two of what's going on. Sure he's getting inside information, but so are the rest of the media. If you don't believe the media are in on it, then you're sadly mistaken as well.

I look at this whole situation is it is the genie out of the bottle effect. Mind you, in the span of 12 hours it took all the major networks to coordinate Info Wars removal from all platforms. Isn't that a little coincidental? All of these heavy hitters just woke up and decided today was the day to ban Alex Jones. Seems odd doesn't it??

We are starting to see our Liberties erode and be tampered with. The freedom of speech, of religion, to peacefully assemble and petition the government isn't just for a few chosen people. It's a freedom for everyone. The freedom of the right to bear arms, isn't just for a few people. It's for everyone(that can lawfully own them, i.e. not a criminal). The freedom to be guarded against illegal search and seizure isn't just for the few. It's a liberty guaranteed to every citizen. The freedom to due process, unreasonable property taken without compensation, the freedom to not testify against yourself. The freedom to a speedy trial. The list goes on and on.

This statement, these sentiments, are what makes me lose hope for American ideals. This is saying people are generally too stupid to know what to watch and need to be coddled.
If you don't like someone don't watch or listen to them. This is the tip of the iceberg. Over moderation contributed to the death of this board.

What's the difference between youtube and pornhub?

They both take videos submitted to them and host them on their sites for people to see. Should pornhub be required to host videos of dogs chasing squirrels at the park? Should youtube be required to host girl on girl fisting videos?

Should Bed Bath and Beyond be required to sell auto parts?

The difference between youtube and pornhub is what market they choose to compete in and that choice is reflected in the content offered. Videos are their inventory. A business gets to decide what inventory it carries. This isn't the government deciding that youtube can't carry Alex Jones, it's the business, governed by a CEO and corporate officers that make decisions in the best interest of the company and its shareholders*.

Is a company being allowed to conduct its business as it sees fit (within the law) an American ideal you believe in?

*Well, google shareholders since youtube is a subsidiary of google.

Let's frame this another way. The supreme court ruled in favor of a business not baking a certain cake because it went against that business' model. Here you have a business deciding not to host a video for exactly the same logic.

Right the difference is, in the case of the baker. It went against the baker's religious beliefs to not make a cake for a homosexual couple. Which is a perfectly fine thing to do. Anyone(the owner) has the right to refuse service of their business to anyone they deem not worthy to deal with.

The gay couple, their lawyers and everyone else who is pro-gay. Contested that since the baker offers his services to the public, then he must in fact honor the business transaction of making the cake for the couple. Problem for him is it went against his beliefs to make such a cake, especially when it's something he doesn't believe in. Now at this point, everyone who's a raging Liberal Progressive was up in arms over this.

Whereas with Alex Jones, we are seeing mass suppression and mass targeting of a specific individual. Basically removing their freedom of speech. YouTube has made it known, that their platform is based on freedom of speech and expression.

Yet, the very moment someone doesn't agree with their beliefs, they suppress them. Again, it just wasn't one company but many that organized a coordinated strike against an individual's freedom of speech.

So, now we see the Liberal hypocrisy in a full and unfettered swing. If it's a cake shop owner refusing service to a couple of guys that want to pound each other in the butt happily every after, then there's a problem because that's hateful and bigoted. And that guy can't hold those beliefs.

But when it's a mass coordinated attack on suppressing someone's 1st Amendment right, well then it's completely fine and they have no problems with it.

You see how it's hard for me to take you Liberals serious?? You call right wrong, and wrong right. You fight with such zeal for something that is so unnatural and perverted. But yet think it's great when someone's 1st Amendment right's gets trampled on. A Right that is guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States of America. If people want to stick their pee-pee where it doesn't belong, then more power to them, it's called a Vice. But squelching or suppressing a person's 1st Amendment right, whether private or public is wrong and it starts us down a bad path. We aren't just on a slippery slope with this, we are on the precipice of a large mountain about to go off the cliff.

I'm warning you, it starts with one person and sooner or later they get to someone you like....

And I agree with you that Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc. are all privately owned companies and can make or change policy. The problem is, drop the phony facade of how their platforms are the bastion of free speech and free thought. Because it's only that way as long as the thinking and speech conforms to their skewed sense of right and wrong.

There is no such thing as "Hate Speech" and as much as I hate white supremacist nazi's they have right in the United States to their free speech. They can believe all of their own garbage that they want. They can call anyone any name in the book. It's called free speech. The moment when it becomes physical or they want to act on their speech with violence then it's wrong.

If someone wants to call another person a gross, huge stinking pile of sh*t and belittle them with everyone other name in the book. Then it is their American right to do so. It's also the other person's American right to tell that same person yelling at them, to shove it when the sun don't shine and move on with their lives.

The problem is, everyone is offended by the littlest things. "They looked at me wrong, they said something I don't like, my feelings are hurt, they made fun of my shirt, they won't laugh at my jokes, they think I'm stupid, they won't like my instagram selfie and yadda...yadda...yadda..."

What happened?? Did everyone's balls suddenly fall off??

This country went from a brazen people who stood up to tyranny. Who faced its relentless onslaught with mettle and courage and forged a country of freedoms and liberties. To a country full of pussies and whiners who only care about the next instagram like....
