So I actually ended up going with the Metzeler M3's and I love'em. Did some research on them and ended up learning that the sides are a softer compound than the middle proposing longer tire life. Metzeler also claims they heat up quicker than the old M1's and last longer (up to 50% which is a little hard to believe). I took them to Bear Creek Canyon Saturday and they held up quite well for new tires (of course I really didn't push them due to being still fresh and all). If you're looking for new tires and want to try something new I'd go with the M3's. I'm happy with my decision.
Warm quicker than the M1...mine warm in like less than a minute, how quick we talkin, like move five feet and you're ready to pound the canyons :P

But I may have to get some M3's as my next set just to see.
