    Need a race license?

    Yo new racers!

Our friends to the West (aka USBA and Miller Motorsports Park) have a kick ass race season planned at the best track ever built! Like the MRA though, you will need a license to race there. If you already have a license and plan to race the Utah club as well, go apply- your existing license will get you a USBA/MoM license. If you're a new racer and need to take a certification class, this post is for you!

Through the USBA and Madison Racing, we will be running a racer certification school at Racing 2 Save Lives! This class will be limited to 10 students, and will get exclusive use of the Kart track (as big as Second Creek) during the instruction to make sure you have the best learning environment possible. Here's what we know so far:

    - This class will run on Friday, April 14th.
    - Classroom time begins at 8:30am sharp, and at 9:30 you start riding with your instructors, alternating track time with class time to learn more material.
    - The class will occupy the first two sessions of the day. During the third session you can choose to ride the "big" track with the other participants if you like. By this point, you are going to be riding well!
    - There will be a written exam (don't worry, it's open book) at some point during the third session, during one of the racer-only blocks so we don't interfere with your riding.
    - At the successful completion of this school, your certificate will also serve as a MPRA Novice Race License.
    - Edit: Because the class cert is an actual race license with MPRA, and because the MRA honors the Utah race licenses through reciprocity, you should be able to use this as a means to apply for your MRA license.
    - You can also take the class if you don't want a race license, but do want some excellent instruction beyond what the new rider classes would cover.

The cost to take this class is $125. Note that this is in addition to the R2SL sessions you will need to pay for.

ALL proceeds from this school goes directly to Racing 2 Save Lives. Both Madison Racing and the USBA are turning over any money they might make on this for the charities, which also means you can make even more of an impact while having a lot of fun!

We will still be doing the new-rider classes for free throughout all four days, however the racer cert class will be an intensive, personalized, and longer experience, and will teach you how to be a racer - not just ride on the track. The 10 people who do this will definitely leave with a lot more knowledge and ability than they did going in!

If you are interested in taking this, you will need to first pre-register for R2SL. Class slots will ONLY be open to pre-registered participants who can commit to being there all day Friday!
    - Sign up for at least the first two sessions on Friday to account for your track time during the school.
    - Contact me here (private message is OK) with your full name, and your intention to participate in the class. Payment for the class will be required in full by the morning of Thursday AM, so if you aren't getting there until Friday (or Thursday afternoon) I will reply back with how to pay beforehand. Payment for the riding sessions themselves can still be handled when you sign in, as always.

    - Once paid, your fee is non-refundable -- this is a donation to charity, after all! If you no-show we will give your spot to someone else, based on the waiting list to get in.
    - If you don't pay for this class by Thursday AM, we also consider that a no-show, FYI.
    - Pledges CAN be used to pay for this class, however you need to have enough pledges (online or in-hand) in R2SL's posession to cover this by the morning of 4/13 if that is your intention, or risk losing your spot.

I'd think so, but nobody knows anything about next year's coolness yet, other than the event will happen, probably even bigger than this one.
