Painting fairings with children. UPDATED WITH FINAL BIKE!

    UPDATE Aug 6th, 2007:
    Pics are located here:
    http://www.kirisan.com/images/ZX7R_C...ion/index.html

In December, my friend's daughter Elsa was feeling quite ill. With a bump developing on her neck and after several tests, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia...

She just went through tough chemotherapy for 3 months, and is finally recovering. She still has 4-6 months of chemo left, but she's doing great and is in good spirits.

Since I am attending the Racing 2 Save Lives event again this year, I thought it would be nice to have Elsa and her brother Nils paint the bike I will be riding at the event.

My lowers will be painted by several other children that my wife babysits, and will have a similar theme (or should I say lack of?).

Definitely not your typical professional racing body paint job, but I think it looks beautiful. I'll be proudly wearing the painted fairings at R2SL!

    Yusuke,

You truly embody the spirit of this event and I couldn't be more honored to share the track with you at MMP. I know there will be several AMA folks out there, but I'm hopeful that YOU will be giving out autographs as well.

Thanks Scott for your kind words!

The fairings look like it just went through a graffiti drive by, but it's great knowing I will be riding out there WITH the children!

    Yusuke,
Your theme is moving, inspirational and brilliant! The bodywork looks fantastic! You may start a new trend.
Elsa must be a strong and inspired little girl, and lucky to have a friend like you. I wish her a full recovery.
I may need Elsa and Nils to paint my bodywork…

Yusuke, I echo everyone's sentiments; What a fantastic tribute! Touching, creative, and certainly something I don't think they will ever forget.

I rarely think of motorcycles without a little yearning. They are about moving, and humans, I think, yearn to move – it’s in our cells, in our desires. We quiet our babies with cyclic movement, and we quiet ourselves by going.

    Re: Painting fairings with children...

    Thanks everyone!

I will be sure to let Elsa know about all the encouragement from you guys! I'm sure she'll be happy to hear them!

I'll have my lower plastics painted this week by other children my wife babysits, so once that's done, I'll post up pics of it as well.

My only concern is, I hope I don't make riders fixate on my bike and miss a turn when they see me out on the track!

Re: Painting fairings with children. UPDATED WITH MORE PAINT

As I said before, I had other children paint my lowers, and I got it back today. I was stunned by how well my lower fairing came back painted by a 9, 6, and a 3 year old child (Anton, Dasha, and Sima)!

Once I get my bike put together, I'll post another pic. It's just amazing what children can do, and I'm SO proud to wear their imagination on my bike!!!

I'm pooped, but done. Just did oil change, radiator flush, chain lube, and swapped plastics.

Here's the final bike. I think she looks beautiful with the children's paintings!!! What do you guys think?
