Thread: made a rear stand today

    made a rear stand today

I own a tube bender and a welder so I thought what the heck, might as well try it. I think it turned out pretty good. My welds aren't as pretty as I would have liked but they are plenty strong so I guess I can live with that for now.

    cheap stand

Yes it was very cheap to build, $7 for materials, used wheels, leftover paint and a little time. Thats what I'm all about.

better than those silly stools that we built in shop-class!!

the rear stand looks Great!!! soooooo, your next project would be.....
** a front stand ** set it up with a basic fork/spool lift AND an adapting unit for a head-set lift. document the materials and dimensions and go into business with Ebay. a whole lot of possibilities,

Good job, looks strong as hell and professionally made!
As for being alot cheaper then a Pit Bull
What is retail on a tube bender, welding machine and the time it takes to learn to make something that nice??
$139 for a pit bull is way cheaper for a no skilled racer like me

yes but I bought it to do many other projects that I have gotten paid for such as deck handrails on the houses that I build. I also get to build rock buggies and dune buggies and grill guards and ladder racks so on and so on. So the tools have paid for themselves. horray for me.

    Nice job!

The only comment I would make is that it looks like it might be a bit of a "finger crusher". Perhaps a handle that is elevated a bit so that you don't crush your fingers when you drop it.

me ditto!! the front would be a simple braced angle to catch the forks.... an adapter for a headset lift would be a bit complicated and more one-off custom... I could scrounge for bulk sources for materials like tube and wheels, etc. bend the handle back a bit or throw in a short 90....

    thanx,

thanks for all the interest and good advice. I may be able to do something for you guys but can't promise anything yet. The front stand is in the works for both kinds. I'll let you know when I get them done how it went. The fork stand will be easy but the other might be more of a challange. Thats what I like about doing this stuff so it should be fun. Thanks again.

soon my friend very soon. I have been testing my rear alot lately and think it will work very well. I looked at a friends stand that he has for his busa and mine is way more stable than his. That made me feel pretty good and I also think mine look better than that guys. The bender that I use doesn't crush the corners like that and I think that one looks crooked to me. should have a front one done pretty soon. I'll keep you informed.

    betta!

absolutely, i wholeheartedly agree. Cosp's stand is a sweeeet looking unit. My point is if 'junk' is on the market, quality stuff should do quite well!!

Stealing is illegal, and you could go to jail fo it.
While you're in jail, I'll pay for my "cosp" made rear stand and you won't!
