I am just at a loss for words, Last week another rider friend of mine didn't make it, and now Gene, Someone I only had the pleasure to meet a few times, but had a impact on me. The time he spent at Cal's talking to me, teaching me some small riding tricks and tips.

I will never forget that face, that smile, and his personality.

Gene was a very good person. Always seemed as though he would give you the shirt off his back or his suit to borrow for the track. He will be missed in many ways, I know.

Loss....how do you explain it. In a way that only you can understand? It is easy to comfort those who have lost, that are close. But to convince yourself that you yourself are ok and that you understand when you truly don't, is harder than breathing.

Please let us know when the funeral is.

I met Gene on a few occassions. He was always kind, fun loving, full of energy, and ready to lend a helping hand. He was eager to share his knowledge and experience with anyone that asked. I can only wish I had gotten to know him as well as many of you. In reading the many stories, it is clear that he was a great friend and a top-notch guy. He will be missed by many.

My condolences to his family and many friends.

    RIP Gene.

Please find out if Gene's family would mind if we attend on 2 wheels? I don't want to be dis-respectful if they are against it.

    If not...i plan on riding.

I can't believe this..... I have not been on the board for sometime, but to have this be the first thing I read... I am so lost on what to think. Gene was a very very great guy. I can't believe this happened to him. I give my respects to his family. I rembered no matter what mood I was in he was always there to talk to me. Just relaxing with him made stuff go away for a bit. Almost like a brother that could relate to you and try to help as much as he knew how. You will be truely missed!!!!
I am sure the club did everything possible to try and help and I thank you guys and gals for that.
I am very sorry to hear about Aaron as well. Seems like he was a good guy too.
Hate to see you leave Gene...

I'm going to be leaving work around 12:30 or 1 as it's been kinda hard for me to work today. If anyone would like to get together for some lunch or something let me know.

EDIT: I'm gonna be meeting Barn in the Commerce City area around 1-1:30 so if anyone else wants to meet on that side of town...

My condolences to the family. This is sad news. I have been in contact with Jenny and Josh since day one and other than what we have discussed and the emotions that we have shared the past week and a half, I am at a loss for words right now.
Gene you have been a good friend to me and were always a joy to have around. And to think that I was able to convince you to play "real" hockey this fall
You will be missed and will always be in my thoughts.
RIP Gene. You are a good friend that will be missed. I'm Gene Bazyl Bitch!!

My friend Gene. I remember the day that you and Justin walked into my apartment garage in Superior. You were eager to learn how and where to race, what kind of gear you would need, how to paint, tires, etc… You asked so many questions that you made me laugh. Your inquisitive nature reminded me of myself when I was your age. You immediately became part of my family.

I remember that Honda with a motor mount bolt missing and the 5 zip-ties that were in its place at Pueblo. You asked my advice and when I said you were crazy, you smirked *we all know that smirk of his*. You then said “your right I should add some more.”
When we raced SMRI in 2004, you had me rolling of the floor from laughing so hard while we were staying at Shana’s parent’s house the night before race. Your detailed recollection of the horses at La Junta could not have been re-told any better…

After my crash that dislocated my hip… you took charge and collected my “yard sale” and loaded us up to make the 10 hour trip back to Denver. During this LONG trip, i was honored with getting to know the real person behind that enjoyable grin. Your pride of your family and heritage was truly heartfelt, and your passion for life taught me to evaluate myself. You stayed awake to talk to me and help keep my mind off the pain from that crash. However the attempt to get me out of the truck to go to the restroom was the funniest thing I have ever experienced.

Your dedication and perseverance, I will always admire as I hold you close to my heart. I am so happy that you and Joe spent New Year 2006 with Shana and me. Thank you for being a friend… Your memory will not be forgotten…..
If you abandon yourself to foolishness....

This is my first time ever posting on one of these boards, but in respects for Gene is definitely an appropriate reason.

I hope Gene finds an Angel to rub his leather suit for good luck (a ritual we had when he raced with comCables a few years back) as he spends eternity riding and racing through the clouds.

We will miss you Gene ...

I still don't believe it, it hurts to believe it...

I could go on for hours about all the good times I remember with Gene, but instead I'll just say that I can't remember a single bad one.

I also plan on riding to the funeral if his parents would not find it disrespectful. Please post the info asap but I will take off whatever I need.

    RIP Gene, I'll miss you.

I would like to ride as well. Maybe we can do a little commenerative ride in his honor afterwards, or at least all show up somewhat together.

I hope his Family knows how much we miss him, and how much he meant to a lot of people.

Because I am so choked up and drained, I can not even begin to write how I feel and how dear Gene was to me.
    Gene,
I love you and care about you more than words can explain...and though I am not the most forward person with my thoughts and feelings, I know that you know this. I will treasure the times that we had together, and forever miss the times that we could have had. You are an amazing person, someone who can never be replaced...afterall, you're Gene Bazyl, bitches!
