    setting sag?

First I would like to introduce myself as this is my first post. My name is Jonathan and I have been riding for almost 5 yrs. I am also an MSF rider coach and I currently ride an 06 1000RR.

As for my question, does anyone know how to set static and rider sag? I'm not very educated with suspension settings. Is there anyone willing to help? Or is there a shop that anyone recommends that can do it for me? Thanks.

It's something that's been discussed on here quite a bit over the years. Basically you need 2 guys, and you dressed in your standard riding gear.

A couple misc. tools for measuring, adjusting, and recording purposes, and Viola`...

If I'm not mistaken, I think you want something like 30mm of sag. Perhaps a little less for an aggressive approach, or a little more, for a comfy approach. (+/- 5mm or so).

Anyhow, the adjustment that you use to set this, is "Spring Preload". You use a special spanning wrench on the rear shock, and just a regular open ended, on the top of your forks.

Once you get your preload dialed in (read: sag), then you can start fiddling with all your damping adjustments, and get into the real fun.

Search the Knowledge Base forum on here, and look for sticky posts in Bike Tech. I'm almost certain there should be something to help you with the specific step-by-steps.

    G'luck.

Sportrider magazine did a great write up on suspension. Worth checking out for sure.

    Thanks for the help guys.

livinlife2themax - I love the bike. I traded my 05 600RR for it. I saw you post about your bike, I also got my bike at Aurora Honda a month ago. It as flickable as the 600 and has a whole lot more power. I just passed 800 miles and love it.
