    Foggy shields!

Riding in this morning I had the first foggy visor of the year. I have tried the Rain-X stuff and it really does not work. I have noticed that when I buy a new shield, it stays fog free in pretty much any conditions until I clean it for the first time with warm water.

Any suggestions, now that it is getting colder out, on how to prevent the "Shit! I can't see the car in front of me!" from happening?

    Thanks!

    Re: Foggy shields!

Thanks Nick. Looks like good stuff. The Scorp lid/visor I use seems to work pretty decent, but the last few mornings it has been degrading to the point where I was wondering if there was a good aftermarket application.

    Thanks again.

Scott (eyewear manuf.) makes an anti-fog cloth that is intended for snow goggles. You have to keep you lenses/shield pretty scratch-free, which should be easy enough on the inside.

Anyway, check it out. It works pretty good. You can probably find them at any outdoors/ski/snowboard shop.

When scuba diving, you use Spit for a quick fix. Salt water gets to it, then starts to far after some time.

Other wise Soft scrub helped pretty good.

you could try a light layer of dish washing liquid on the inside of the visor. works pretty well... or get a helmet with kick ass venting.

Gotta agree with Canuck and Rory. The Respro Foggy mask is great no matter what shield you put on your lid.

    Re: Foggy shields!

I've had some good results with my Nolan and it's anti-fog shield insert.

It clips on to the inside of the shield (where you see the little round plastic tabs at each side of the faceshield) It creats an air barrier between the front shield and itself. Additionally, when stopped (or going slow) I can lift the entire front section of the helment for increased comfort and visibility. My helmet also has a VPS (vision protection system) secondary shield that flips down over the front one. It is tinted and therefore I don't need to wear sunglasses. Only the upper portion of the shield is tinted, so when I look down at my gages or map it is a clear view. This is expecially helpful when I go through tunnels. I don't have that momentary "gee, it's kinda dark in here" problem. My guess, in years to come, is that more and more riders will be wearing these "multifunctional" helmets. To each his own.

Below is a 102 with the extra "flipable" visor.
