    fork seals

will it do any damage to ride a bike with blown fork seals? also how much does it normally cost to get both seals redone? i haven't blown them yet but im just getting this wheelie thing down and every time i get up out of reaction i let right off the gas thinking i'm gonna go over.

Riding with blown seals SUCKS. And it's probably unsafe considering the handling goes to crap and fork oil gets on your brakes. Keep your tubes clean and they will last longer. Wheelie all you want but understand that if you're going to be hard on your bike, you need to be prepared to pay more for upkeep.

They'll last a long time if you keep dirt off the tubes. I wouldn't worry about it- I've come down pretty hard on mine more than a few times since I had the seals replaced last year and they're fine. Of course I have 6-7 inches of travel and fork boots- YMMV.

It's a dirtbike thing- you don't want them on your sportbike. They do make things that keep bugs off your forks- you may already have those.

I have came down, Hard alot and never had a problem with fork seals. Don't worry about this. Just try and not do it everytime. You are just starting to learn wheelies so you will come down hard alot, but as you get better, you will learn how to bring them down easier.

unless you're a total front wheel slamming bike abuser, the seals should last you a long time. I have yet to change my seals, and so far, the oil has broken down a LONG time ago, and springs may be sagging. 20,000 miles and the seals are holding. They're not that expensive either to have replaced if you take the legs out yourself, about $50 per side or less + $25 or so for seals.

I wish I could help, but I don't know how to replace a seal. (Never had to do it. ) Hopefully you wont have to, but if you do I am sure somebody on this board knows how to and you can get all the stuff you need for around $25, and probally the 6 pack you will owe to whoever helps you.
