Help: Rearset Adapters for Yamaha R1

I'm tired of scraping my pegs and don't want to shell out the ca$h for aftermarket rearsets.
I've found them on the net for CBR600's, Gixxers and even SV's but not for Yamaha.

Anybody have any idea:
1) where I can get some pre-made?
2) know somebody that can make them for me?
3) where to get the material to make them myself?

Or, anybody have any idea if the rearsets off a '96-'99 Gixxer would fit on an R1?

My 2nd choice, would be the Superpole V-360 pegs from Lockhart, but I'd rather save that as a last resort.

No idea but I have an angle grinder and some tie wraps if you're worried about ground clearance...

If it's like the R6, then the shift linkage runs through the frame, which makes rearset adapters difficult without a new shift linkage. That's why aftermarket rearsets come with a new linkage that (usually, from what I've seen) runs outside the frame. That may be why you haven't had luck finding adapter plates...

Good point, but I've already reversed my shifting, and the shift rod already runs outside the frame and I'm planning on keeping it that way.

I was just wondering if you could confirm something:
I'm not crazy about the "gold" color of the adapter plates, but in searching the web & finding the Euro Racing website, the ones they have are silver colored (which would be just fine).

... Which one would I be getting?

Any idea how long it would take? And...

Hey Spiderman, I was checking out the Yoyo's as well. 109.00 for the adapter is a bit steep when U can get near sets for a bit more......Not Giles or anything but.........

None the less I was very interested in the same idea. I also found some pegs that are adjustable as well and mount to the stock rear sets. They are 60.00 on kneedraggers. Just an idea.

Also if U want some rearsets at a pretty good price check out 2wheeljunkie.com.

Thanks Dion. Wow, complete rearsets for only $240 (ROSMOTO)?!? Not bad. I checked out their website (http://www.rosmoto.it/ - click on "Catalogo" on the left) and it looks like some of the rearsets are GP shift, but not the ones that 2wheeljunkie is selling. Now the adjustable ones (on the other hand) seem to all be GP shift, and even though they're only $325, that's still another $85. The complete set of Woodcraft is $320, but the Woodcraft website says that the GP adapter is another $42 for the '02/'03... and 2wheeljunkie doesn't mention anything about that... oh wait, never mind, I just noticed that the part number on 2wheeljunkie (for "R1 all but 98 GP") is the one that Woodcraft has for the 99-01. I've heard that rearsets from an '01 will fit the '02 - I guess that's what 2wheeljunkie is basing it on.

I also found Lightning Performance Products rearset relocaters ($130 at Parts411.com) - here's the only picture I could find:

I'm looking for an inexpensive solution, hence the search for rearset adapters. I'm still considering making them on my own, and am leaning more and more towards that every day

Actually, they're $50 at kneedraggers - I was looking at them too.

For anybody that's interested, we're talking about the LP Superpole V-360 Milled Pegs:

(LP = Lockhart Phillips - but I think they're only the distributor)

Sorry I included shipping and rounded off on the pegs.

Those rear sets arent bad. The 01 and 02 are the ssame mount. I also noticed the 42.00 GP shift upgrade.....mmmmmm I want that.

BTW I fount that the non adustables are up and back from the stockl position. I have talked to a couple people and all were happy with them so far.

Decisions decisions........

I'm running GP shift right now - the shift rod runs outside the frame (need a 4-5 washers between the rearset and the frame), and the (not sure what it's called, but the other end that the shift rod connects to) has to be reversed (so it can be reconnected to the shift rod) and rotated approximately 180 degrees (have to play with this because it can hit the frame when shifting).

Another thing about the Superpole V-360 pegs is that I'm concerned about their strength (after that whole scare came up on the R1 forum about the R1 OEM pegs breaking under normal use, it's just one more thing that I think about now) - I'm worried that they may not be strong enough to withstand the abuse I'm sure to give them.

I have the same concern. Have U seen the mount? Its not very thick. Id like to see a pair in person before I bought.

Im saving up for the adjustables with the GP shift. Still paying for the Ohlins damper. haha
