Is there a way to modify the mid pipe on my R6 for track use
( it won't clear my heel ) Without changing the entire exhaust?
Thanks

Go GP exhaust!

By the whole exhaust do you mean actually the whole thing? I would just change the can so it's not a high mount. Other than that, I wouldn't know a better solution besides a hammer...

Try giving Micron a call. They may be able to sell you a regular mid pipe that would lower the pipe.
Either that or sell the High Micron on Ebay and pick up another slip on that is at a better height

DUDE! Your gonna need a bigger rear spring to hold up that f'n monster of an exhaust, ha. That, and sand blast your rims and save some unsprung weight to boot.

Go to Mineke and have them fab up a new mid-pipe for you. Either in a low-mount or a high mount that moves the exhaust back a couple inches.

Now that I'm seeing it on the pic, it is a monster of a pipe.
I think I will change the can for a smaller one.
What is a GP exhaust? any pics of one?

Do you have any pics of the other side?
Just thought I'd mention because I didn't see any frame sliders in the picture, that's another mod you might want to look into. Also a billet case cover would be another one I recommend. You go down on the track you might crack your case cover and start leaking oil. I ride to the track so that would be an issue for some getting home with that problem. My last mod after seeing the pics is some aftermarket rear sets (woodcraft or valtermoto are some great ones). Again, you go down on your left side and loose your shifter... you be like me one time where I was leaning over to shift with my hand on my way home, lol.
Even if it's just track days you're doing this pay for themselves when things go to the suck. Dean, on the board, suggested these even for riding the canyon. You go down in the middle of nowhere, you will be thanking yourself when you're bike is still rideable.
All those parts you can pickup from Jplracing (rebellion motorsports), that's where I got my case cover and rearsets.

I'm taking it to the track to see if I like it enough to make it
a track bike, If I do I will be getting all the race stuff including
a front race fairing, rearsets, frame sliders and suspension.
If not I will install headlights, mirrors and sell
it as a street bike.

I think you'll like it.
But if not, there's a huge market for it among the racers.
There were a lot of the previous gen (99-02) track R6's for sale over the winter by people upgrading to newer gen (03-05).
So if you decide to sell it, you should have no problem finding a buyer without having to make it street legal.
Cool thats good to know.
And once again thank you all for your responses.

Be aware of how loud it is.....even at the track. I know we have asked individuals before with similar exhausts to baffle them or find something else. THey were so loud corner workers were complaining and other racers couldn't take it---your might not be like that, but just a fair warning.
Hope it works for ya though....
FYI...i run an 03 R6 with full hindle exhaust....by heel hits my highmount....i just wrap it with header wrap and replace it like every other race...no biggie.
The one I got has a baffle in it, we will see how loud it is.
If is too loud, I wil replace it with something else.

I'd be interested in hearing this. I'd like to get rid of my stock can and into something small. Does it sound decent?
I should have it Installed by next week, I will let you know
how it sounds.
