FYI TO ALL!!

I found out the hard way last night that the parking protocol for downtown Denver has changed drastically. What used to be 2hr paid parking from 8am-10pm, free from 10pm-2am, and tow zones from 2am-6am, is now ALL NIGHT PAID PARKING! This is very confusingly promoted (probably intentionally) as "ALL NIGHT PARKING ALLOWED" in very large print on LoDo parking meters. Only after examining the fine print will you see that the 2hr parking is now $1/hr from 8am-2am, $0.50/hr from 2am-6am, and free from 6am-8am. Sundays are still free.

There are no street signs indicating this change. You MUST read the small print on the meters to understand the fees/hours where you are parking. DO NOT make the mistake I did and assume "ALL NIGHT PARKING ALLOWED" still means free after 10pm!

As far as I'm concerned, it's not at all clear in that article that the 10pm-2am free parking has been done away with. Maybe I'm just angry that I got a ticket at 10:55pm.

I guess they gotta do what they can to increase revenue in a recession.
