Mra.org is talking about the possibility of a new track opening up in April of next year but I can't find anything to confirm it. Does anyone have information on this?

Yup....Dana's got it right. I'm going to be installing a .1 mile road course behind my house for racing big wheels on. There will be two classes. Stock and Modified.
Yes, there are two new tracks in the works in Colorado. One is called the Genoa Motorsports Park and it's a private "country club" type track. They have already stated they are VERY interested in hosting local club events.
The second is a track that the race clubs in colorado are building specifically for serving those clubs. It's planned to be east of Denver. The exact location hasn't been announced because it's presently private land and the owners do not wish to have random visitors. I believe that groundbreaking is scheduled for April of next year with hopes of it opening in mid to late summer.
*Edit, got the dates wrong, groundbreaking late THIS summer, opening April 2008*

High Plains Raceway. aka "East of Eden". Pony up crew, donations needed. This is going to be around 3 million in greenseeds to build. BTW, for now this is going to be a track, not a clubhouse with garages, et. al. Bring your own water. Details are still being cut. Paving this fall if all goes well. Oh, it will be a lot less expensive than the country club place to the north.

In two years we might be back to how it was before, only with each track having new pavement and runoff
I am a millionair and building my own track in the back yard. The big wheel and Green Machine races are on Sat and the pocket rocket races are on Sun lol
I saw where the track is It is actually 1-2 hrs from my house. Are they offering helicoptor rides out their?
Welcome to last year...

Be polite. Be professional. But be prepared to kill everyone you meet.
"Motorcycles tell us a more useful truth: we are small and exposed, and probably moving too fast for our own good, but that's no reason not to enjoy every minute of the ride."
~Dave Karlotski
Now now Brian, be nice....the track still isn't built.
Got a chance to ride HPR on a dirt bike a few weeks back (Cause its still a dirt field)
None the less the track is layed out with markers......
If its half as much fun paved as it is when its dirt... Many of us may have permagrin in Colorado....... Its fast, lots of BIG elevation change, and best of all its in the middle of nowhere so the idiots wont complain. WOOT !!!
Cant wait till construction begins... Im ready to get a shovel myself and go pitch in to get this thing moving already.....

I'm on the Genoa Motorsports email list. Here's a message they sent out today:
Matt,
Just a quick update on new stuff on our website.
If you haven't looked lately we've made some announcements and added our
track animation for the East Track clockwise and counter-clockwise www.genoamotorsports.com
We are also offering our Preferred and Individual Memberships at reduced initiation
fees for the first 50 Members at each level - these are onetime initiation fees
for a life time membership for the entire facility - including grandfathering into
the future East Track and clubhouse. A nominal deposit will hold your Membership
and the rest isn't due until 60 days prior to opening (at that point you will
see the track because there is a 60 day curing period before we can open).
Please fell free to contact us with any questions.
