    Bodyshop to buff headlamp scratches

Not sure if this should be posted here or under TECH........

Can small scratches be buffed out of a headlamp. They are not very deep. If so, anyone recommend a bodyshop in the metro area that does go work.

If they can't be buffed out, EBAY here I come.

If it's glass, no. If it's plastic, try taking a piece of silk, and buff the nuts off that thing. It'll eventually smooth it back out again. (Hint - this works on cell phone displays too!)

This is something you can easily do yourself... no need to take it to a shop.

You essentially just need some sort of very mild abrasive. Toothpaste is supposed to work really well, but I haven't tried it myself.

I used some Dico metal polish compound with a buffer bit on a drill, which worked great on my car lenses (its a 94'). You can pick-up the Dico stuff at Ace or Home Depot. It comes in a cardboard tube and is essentially a clay type putty which is mildly abrasive.
