    horrible idle

So about 3 days ago my idle started to drop. It usually sits around 1.5k and sounds healthy. It then dropped to around 1.2 than to 1k now it has made it to under 1k where it is barely able to stay running. I smelled the exhaust and it has a very strong smell of carbon monoxide. Would that mean it is running too rich? What would you guys suggest I start changing first?

Also it is 00 zx6r. thanks

I would first try swapping the plugs and clean your air filter out. Could just be some bad fuel as well.

Alright I will do both of those this week. I was hoping for just bad fuel but I have filled up again since it started acting up

Hmm, the ability to smell a colorless/odorless gas is pretty rare. I bet there are people at CU or within the Obama campaign that would like to speak with you.

    lmao!!!!

if the first suggestion. Plugs, wires, and filter dont work,,, Check for vacume leaks with carb cleaner, when the bike is running.

Have you tried to adjust the idle adjustment? Just something to look at before you pull everything apart.

If that doesnt' help, I agree with starting on the plugs, filter, and some carb cleaning. It might also have a clogged or pinched vacuum line causing it get less fuel.

lol well whatever the smell of exhaust is, it is very strong. Which I have no idea what that is a sign of but I thought I would throw it in there in hopes that it would be a sign that it is running rich/lean or whatever.

Also where is the idle adjusment at, It is a black faucet like knob I have read but I am not sure where it is? Also will I need to remove a fairing to get to it?

Do I just spray the carb cleaner on it and see if it runs better or what?

Pretty much. Spray the carb cleaner wherever you suspect a vacuum leak. If there is a vacuum leak where you spray it, the rpm's will drop.
