    Exhaust Recommendations 05 R1

So I may have the opportunity to buy exhaust for my R1, but I really don't know that much about exhaust / performance benefits of it etc. If anyone has any recommendations or information about a particular manufacturer I would appreciate it.

A friend of mine found this for me..let me know what you think...please!?

How about a Graves titanium 3/4 system? Kneedraggers sells them for over $900 http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...1--613929.html

I can get you one in almost new condition for half that. It's hanging in a friends garage at the moment.

the BEST exhaust would be a 2008 CBR 100RR (sell your Yami )

Aside from that, I have heard the Graves and it is great!! I do not know first hand about the performance bennies but man the sound it worth the swap IMO

Jim, is there any benefit to going with the FULL Graves system?

Why would she want to go from a 1000 to a 100?

Where's the yawn emoticon? Cause that's getting old and boring. Plus my car and keep up with you in the corners, so it's ok for now.

Back on topic... I dig the Graves.

That would be phenominal, I will be in La Veta this weekend, so i could stop by the track to take a look at it if you're going to be there, otherwise I can make other arrangements with you.

I will PM you my number.

If I were you I'd do some research on akrapovic. I'm sure the R1 forums have beat this topic to death so I'm sure you'd find some substantial research on this topic.

performance wise all the pipes are very close. since Leah is a street rider who does occasional track days, she doesnt necessarily need the pipe which has the best performance. she should go with what looks and sounds good to her. yes, the Akra is great exhaust. The slip on with the Y pipe sells for $1100 for her R1. The Graves is a top quality exhaust, too. but if she can buy a slightly used $1000 exhaust for less than half that, it is a no-brainer.

I won't be at the track this weekend except for possibly Monday. I will grab the pipe tomorrow and I can meet up with you next week.

Just curious, is a 3/4 exhaust going to give similar performance results along the lines of a slip on? Or are there other advantages?

on the R1, the additional Y-Pipe for the 3/4 system eliminates the big catalytic converter that comes stock. just a slip on would attach behind the cat. there is an obvious weight advantage. as far as performance differences, i woud have to defer that to Clarkie or Faster, or someone who has done comparisons on the dyno.

Thanks! I've had an idea of the difference between full and slip on, but had checked out 3/4. If it's like any other Graves I've heard, it's probably pretty bad ass.

That's exactly the way I'm looking at it. If I can ever get my hands on a race bike, i will just buy one that has the goodies on it already.

I'm perfectly fine buying a slightly used system that looks good, sounds good and saves me a bit of coin.
