How did I know this was going to happen?
Sour grapes for breakfast anyone?
Personally I woke up this morning still employed, still owning my guns, and no Muslim terrorists had moved in next door.
When some of you get out of your basement bunkers why don't you try getting to work with the rest of America on trying to fix our problems.
Unless of course you'd prefer to just spend the next four years bitching like little girls.
It's your right I guess, but all a lot of you have ever done (in your posts and in your lives I expect) is to generate a lot of heat without any light.
If you don't like what the new administration is going to do, get involved and vote people in that better reflect your ideals.
And if none exist that represent your views then run for office yourself.
Untill then I'll leave you all to post your impotent rants while I try to work with those of the polital right that actually can debate a point rationally
and see if we can't work toward addressing the real issues.
And Townie, being called an idiot by you is probably the most flattering thing I've ever seen you post.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls would scarcely get your feet wet.
well put.

If people (yourself included) were actually acting like mature adults, I wouldn't have had to treat you like anything except people with a rational opinion. Unfortunately most of the people posting couldn't even handle that, so the posts went away. Grow up and get over it.

I don't but don't see why someone who does should be punished for it. Does sticking it to "the rich" have any impact on your life, other then making you feel better? You end up paying higher prices for goods and services because of it. Jobs are lost because of it. But as long as the left in this country has a positive emotional reaction to it, all that doesn't matter...
Interesting times to be sure.
What about tomorrow Jeff? Are you going to have that all then? I guess you can start talking like all the bitching and moaning you have done for the last eight years hasn't paid off. I don't think you will be so quick to quit. You better get back to work though... those cars aren't going to wash themselves.
I don't know about you but I feel better knowing that Barry won. However, I am not so sure about his campiegn promises of change with his choice of VP right there pulling his strings. Either we will see a great move in another direction that will make rainbows brighter or more of the same stuff we were getting away from with Clinton and Gore. Anyway want to place bets?

The feeling is definitely there. It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism.

It is better to communicate good information than to offer misinformation in the name of good communication. Alastair B Fraser
I might be speaking here more to the people who are my age, because they might remember the things that our country went through in the 60s and 70s with Civil Rights and with the rotten treatment of Vietnam Vets. I may have been only a child, but as a kid what you remember is the emotion. That emotion was of hate and loathing, but also hope. I remember how much I hated the time of day that the evening news came on, because my Dad would turn it on and would be horrified with the visuals of the atrocities in Vietnam (on both sides). It was painful. I also remember the feeling of hope as my parents never showed their children what it was like to be prejudiced...everyone was a human being in our world and deserving of respect.
The real wonderment right now, that is affecting me at this moment, is the idea that a dream has actually been realized in my lifetime. After all the naysayers, all the put-downs, all the negativity...one ideal has actually won out. That's the pixie dust I can see.
Aside from that, I certainly hope Obama has the strength to weather the huge storm that's been created. I know he's going to need a whole bunch of support. I'm curious to see who he appoints to help in this presidency.
I don't worry too much about the rest of the world...they've spoken loudly...just check out the foreign news agencies. Pretty freakin amazing to see.
On last night's speeches...McCain was gracious. Obama didn't miss a beat in reminding us, we've got a huge mountain of problems to overcome. It can happen when we all work together...that is something people need to come to grips with.

I really have trouble following your posts sometimes Dave, but here's what I got out of that:
Tomorrow I'll still be here doing what I can.
Have all what then? (no idea what you meant there.)
I didn't just bitch, I debated with (and yes, occasioanally jabbed at) rational people of opposing opinions like Linda, Shea, and Chris.
And I campaigned and voted to change the direction the Bush administration took this country.
That's what we do in this country. We debate, argue, rally, and ultimately come together to try and build the country that we want.
To quit what? (no idea what you're getting at.)
Totally wrong there. Ask anyone, I never wash my vehicles.

Well, one doesn't have to be rich to understand the downsides to increasing taxes on a group that already pays most of the Federal income tax in this country. The $250K number seems to be dropping. But, we've believed this kind of talk before so this is nothing new unfortunately.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
--Thomas Jefferson
