Students need to be willing to learn. But the onus is also on the instructor to present the material in a way that the student can understand. I think this is why some people have a hard time in certain classes - the instruction can't adapt to the student, and both sides are kind of stuck not being able to communicate fully.

Joe is actualy awsome instructor that has coached many sports. Not a race or national goes buy that I don't utilize his last minute advice.

I've worked with Shellinger too and i'd recommend him over Ricky and definatley Go4It. Nothing against Ricky but last I checked if you wanted to take one of his classes you had to do it at CDR. Nuff said. As far as Pettiford. He's a nice enough guy but the prices seem pretty high for what ya get. He actually approached me after one race to offer instruction and I was like "eh didn't I just finish ahead of you in twins"? Not saying that you have to be fast to be a good teacher but if you wanna earn my dollar you have to be atleast faster than me.

I think most people are putting way to much stock in if a teacher is faster that you or not. If that were the only thing that mattered then tiger woods coach should be better that him, right? I know Mike Pettiford and have a class coming up from him. This will be my first so Don't really know how it will work but do have a friend that has taking classes from him and is now faster than Mike. A good teacher will teach you how to be better that them. I thought it was pretty impressive that he could run 1:12 at second creek with out trail breaking. I think if he wanted to go faster he would start to trail break into the corners and go faster. It is also my understanding that he hasn't crashed a bike in a long time. How many crashes have you had in the last 20 years?
