    Re: akuma helmets???

I've tried one on and was pretty impressed. Very nicely made, extremely light and they seem to be a good value. I've not worn one on the bike, so I have no real knowledge of how the wind noise / resistance is.

I wear a medium shoei and the medium akuma seemed to fit me pretty well too.

    Re: akuma helmets???

    i have a ghostrider
i love it although the shield is a bit loose now and the peripheral vison is a bit squished--verticle is good-- it has a race fit- so its tight-- and the fabric is a bit rough
vents wrok well enough--- the lights are great- the pads are removable
it alos has a small closer fitting shell that doesnt give it a huge helmet appearance when wearing it...changing shields is a pita- but u can get one of their do it all shields... it isnt painted either-- its a wrap-- a very good one at that.
almost all their helmets are diffrent between models and therefore fit diffrently.
Bottom line- the ghostrider looks top tier but its off in a few areas--- like no visor tab-- the chinstrap velcro is falling apart....I got mine for 280 so its was worth that but not the 400 they ask now...

I think Sheila (1oftheboys) was/is sponsered by them. Chad, if you know her, shoot her an email. If not, let me know and I will talk to her on your behalf.

Sheila is sponsored by them. From what I've heard, she likes them. I've seen one, and while I didn't examine it closely, it was VERY light!! I'll see if I can get her to chime in on here.

    Re: akuma helmets???

Ahhh yes AKUMA Helmets. Mine has saved me twice now. I have been racing with the Phantom II since last year. I just recently crashed my bike at around 120MPH. Came off the bike butt first, fell back, hit my head and proceeded to slide and roll halfway down the straight at Texas World Speedway.

Rybo, it reminded of that time at Miller you said you kept seeing ground sky, ground sky lol

Now you know I had to of hit my head really hard at that speed. I know my AKUMA helmet saved me because I remember everything that happened during and after my crash. This is the second one of theirs I have crashed hitting my head hard and experienced no head trauma either time.

The different styles they have are shaped for different head shapes and sizes. I was able to go to their office/warehouse and try on the different ones. They are DOT and ECE rated.

Maybe more info than you were looking for but I definately recommend them and not just because I'm sponsored by them. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

AKUMA's website shows Co Powersports and Pikes Peak Harley Davidson carries them but I don't know if this is an updated list. I will be talking with AKUMA soon and will ask.
