Has anyone ridden the 70 miles of Hwy 12 from LaVeta to Trinidad? It's on the AMA's survey of best moto roads in the USA.

Hmmm... Never been down there, but it could be a good day ride.
Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.
Haven't ridden it, but have driven it a couple of times. Very fun but be careful of the loose sand in the corners. Lots of dirt driveways leading directly onto it.
I'd be up for a ride down that way.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
--Thomas Jefferson
Yep, it's called the Hwy of Ledgends or something. It's great from La Veta up to the summit and alittle bit beyond but then gets boring after that. Watch for the police in town, as most small towns, 5 over will get you a ticket. It really doen't go anywhere but a good dirversion from the interstate heading south if one has a little more time.

I'll have to check it out this summer. The only other CO road on the survey is Hwy 550. At the bottom, it asks if any good moto roads are missing.

I've been curious about that road for a long time and am another one interested in a ride there.
