    Crab Grass

Anyone have any luck getting rid of Crab Grass? I have spots if it all over and don't know where the heck it came from. I don't want to kill off the good grass around it, just the Crab Crap!!

It's my understanding that once you have crab grass, you have crab grass. the only way to prevent it spreading further is through fertilizer. to rid your yard of existing crab grass, you need to rip out those sections and sod/seed in replacements.

I'm sure there's more and maybe something that kills it and lets your actual grass grow in, but the above methods have worked for me...

I hit the center with petrol, the stuff dies by the end of the day, I then cut it out and grass grows in.

You have to follow the direction to a T... It only works if you apply the right amount in the right months. I didnt dig mine out I spent a lot of time pulling it. Doing the two of those rid my yard of it in one season.

    Re: Crab Grass

Once it's growing, it's almost impossible to kill. If you get rid of most of it, just pull any individual plants that show up.(before they go to seed) They only spread via seed, so if you pull them early, you kill them. Also, crabgrass pulls out from the root very easily and is easy to distinguish from other grasses. Also, you can just pull a chunk of grass around the crabgrass and usually the crabgrass will come out by the root and the good grass will just tear off.
