I posted this on TRAT so figured I would post it here...
So I recently sold my S3 thinking I could live without a bike. I was wrong again like usual. So I then sold my project MK2 Jetta and used the cash to buy a Bonneville. I actually was going to settle for a Superhawk until I found this bonnie on ebay. After talking with the owner I knew I wanted it...bad. The bike was located in Albuquerque, NM. So I booked a flight to New Mexico and planned on flying out and riding it back to Denver. Roughly 500 miles going the back highways.
The plane I was on was a Turbo prop so apparently at DIA regional carriers are hidden in hallways at the end of normal terminals...
But it was a pretty sweet plane, Bombardier Q400 I think...
(cowboy hat is NOT me)
Flew over the exact area I would be riding back through. You can see Great Sand Dunes National park at the top of the pic...
More dunes...
Picked the bike up at the airport. Seller was super nice and I was on my way!
Rode from there to Santa Fe, then headed north on 285. Pretty area but lots of the towns are turning into ghost towns. This pic is from just north of Espanola, NM.
Then meet my sister on her Nightster in Poncha Springs, CO. Super good mexican food at a little restaraunt there.
(this pic is actually in Fairplay where I got questioned again from an "old timer" reliving his youth)
Headed north through the hills but was unfortunately stuck in traffic a lot of it. Next time I would take even more remote roads than 285.
Home at last and very very tired....
Bike was purchased for $3500 but has 24k on it (2003). But the more I get into the bike, the more mods and things I find on it. I LOVE the bike to death!
