A wire came loose and groined out my stater and regulater. I was on my way home from Grim's 4 corners ride. They don't have the parts to fix it here. Does anyone have a truck my mom can borrow to come get me? I'm in Durango.

Hey chrisiti, sorry to hear about the bike trouble! That sucks! Maybe the Harley guys were on to something with their trailers afterall.
So Grim just left you there? That's not very gentlemen like. Tsk tsk Sean
Going to pick it up later I'm assuming? Could have been a good opportunity to trade up.
How was the ride otherwise?
Probably too late now, but you could rent a Uhaul one way to get it and you back home. Not ideal, but I've done it before.
Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

I called haul and they were out of trucks. I told Grim to head home. He had to get home to his daughter. He offered and refused to leave until he was sure I was going to be ok.

Did you take my route advice?
AAA w/ Motorcycle Coverage has saved many from being in a pickle like that!
Reminds me I need to renew!!!

if you still nneed to get it, you can borrow my trailer/straps/etc.
I got AMA Roadside Assistance with my membership for free. Granted, it's only for 35 miles but you will get a discount on miles over. Covers all your vehicles and is free with $39 annual membership.

Yea, I have AMA and road side assistance through my insurance company and my phone so the tow to Durango is covered. The tow to Denver would have been cost prohibitive though. I will be going back up on Saturday to get my bike whether it's fixed or not though so I might take Outlawed up on his offer.

Geico will tow anywhere in the United States. Broke down in DE once and they towed me back to WV no cost.
That's good news. So she just needs a ride down there, not a trailer/truck.
That's always my big fear with long-distance trips and being far away from home/help. In this order
1) Crashing
2) Injury
3) Mechanical problem
A few years back a few of us did an Epic 1600 mile 3 day trip to the Devil's highway in Arizona (formally HWY 666 - now called something else).
It was pretty much nothing but hair pin turns and one of the guys high sided and punctured the gas tank hitting a rock. Ron (Old Knee Dragger) rode the bike the 30 or so miles into a small mining town with the right hand on the throttle and the left hand covering the hole on the RIGHT side of the gas tank. Fuel soaked his clothes and pooled into his boots but he made it! We got it fixed up with some JB weld and duct tape and were good to go for the 800 miles or so we had left.
For that experience I now always carry a tube of JB stick weld, plastic weld (both are puddy and super small) and a mini-roll of duct tape. Fits nicely in the small pouch on my tank bag.
