We just came from there on our way to Estes Park. It's fully paved but like someone else said the first 1/3 is rough and in need of repairs. Once you cross overthr county line it's pristine.

Today in particular it was ruined by the hundreds of bicycles. It seemed like every corner there they were. For miles.

Lots of tar snakes, put holes, and sand on that back side (South side, whatever) too, sand due probably to the bicycle support vehicles pulling on and off the road and dragging sand with them.

Traffic utterly horrible to boot. Suggest you try it on a week day, probably after the race on the 21st since it's bicycle practice fest until then.

Fresh pavement up and over through Evans turnoff, old but decent pavement down through to Chicago.
