I'll make this quick, I want to rent your S1000RR for 5 minutes.

It's simple. You loan me your S1000RR, you can follow on my SV1000 or wait and drink a beer that I will provide. I get on the highway, run it through a gear or 2 or 3, and we trade back. I just want to feel 193hp on a bike the same weight as mine, that's all. I've thought about buying one, but I've put too much money into my SV, and I love my SV. Plus I'd rather spend the money on a new 3 series.

So let me know if any of you all wouldn't mind. I'm in Springs.

If you're expecting 193hp you will be disappointed unless it has the kit ecu and full exhaust system and then you're looking at high 180's.

Why don't you just go to Foothills or Denver BMW and take one out for a spin? I'll bet they will even let you keep it for more than 5 minutes.

They're definitely a kick in the pants!

The dealership in the Springs let me ride one, no problems.

Def hit up the dealers. They usually are cool with letting you take the bikes out.

+1 on the dealers. They almost throw the keys at you compared to other brands.

Be prepared for the electronics to kick in when you go WOT. The front wants to shoot up in the air but you can keep it pinned, use the quick shifter, and just ride it out. Fastest I have ever gone in a very short distance to say the least.

I didn't think a dealer in Springs would have one, thus I didn't bring my gear up. Crap. Next weekend I'll give this a shot then! I'd much rather see redline on a dealer's bike anyways!

I don't think it'll surprise you like you think. It's deceivingly quiet and quick. A refined power, it's not going to parachute you. What made the biggest impression to me was the comfort, how smooth gear changes were, and how it handled overall.

I went up to Pikes Peak Harley today, and sure enough they let me ride it.

You're pretty much spot on, though it still felt fast as hell. It was limited to 9,000rpm which kinda sucked, but you can feel the cams coming on hard north of 8, and it felt like it had plenty left. And I thought it was pretty loud, maybe that's how all of the new supersports are. I couldn't believe the comfort level like you said, throttle response was so smooth. And how eager it was to lean. I barely shifted my weight and the bike was leaning right over. Simply amazing.

The biggest thing. I've been riding my SV for 2 years, and feel very comfortable with it. I got onto this BMW, and felt at home on it, right away. After 5 minutes I got back on my SV, and it felt like the first time I've ridden it. The throttle was jumpy and I actually have to push it down into corners. Completely different animal.

My biggest complaints of the BMW. The handlebars are low, and put a lot of weight on my wrists. The fairings come too far back for my bigass frame (6'4"), and my knees were hitting the corner of them. Other than that, I'm in love. I want one.
