Hmm yeah, I don't think assaulting a police officer in front of 30 other ones is going to get you far. I think that guy probably retained bone structure a lot more than he would have, had there not been so many cameras rolling.

It's funny that Cpt. Bullhorn wants to scream "Nazi" at the cops. The communists and Nazi's have aligned themselves with the 99%ers.
You wanna know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you realize I'm in command.
I lost all respect for the protesters when I saw this happen (they have a right to protest but not one to assault people).
http://youtu.be/zbEpvOEvzrI
That is my link to the video I stole, the other person had it that Roper "TOUCHED" the officers bike and thus was arrested. I figured the truth needed to be there and not some slanted lie.
Did you lose all respect for the cops in NY when that one cop pepper sprayed a bunch of women who weren't doing anything other than protesting? Did you lose respect for all the cops in Oakland when the one shot a marine in the face with a tear gas canister, fracturing his skull, when he was marching peacefully?
One asshat pushes a cop, causes no injury whatsoever, and you lose respect for the entirety of the occupy movement?
Biased much?
I doubt very much that you any any respect for the protesters to begin with.
Nah I have no respect for Hippies too lazy to work. Have you noticed how they all look the same with piss poor hair, ratty clothing.
They cry about student loans, but I'm guessing from the looks of a lot of them their major is something pointless like Theology. Maybe grow a brain cell and not take loans for majors that will not HELP you get a real career. College never equaled a guarantee $100K a year. At some point you have to have brain and say is $60K in loans worth the career starting at $40K a year with a potential of maybe $60K a year after moving up in 10 years of work!!!
In some cases it might be better to work hard and make $30K a year to start with no degree, and work your way up to the $60K a year. Yeah you might start at a lower level of pay, but you also don't have the loans either.
At this point, I hope they start to riot...then we can start to shoot them.
Oh, as for the video...yeah its easy to paint a whole picture when you listen to the background (find the FULL video) people are shouting "shame on the police" and making it seem like the cop ran over and just started to beat this guy...LOL Even the original posted of the full video claimed "guy touches motorcycle and gets assaulted". Touch and push are two different words to use. You push me over on my motorcycle and I conceal carry I WILL shoot you dead and just tell the police you tried to jack me and push me over to steal my property. I wish the cop would have shot the guy, how dumb you got to be. Plus the people screaming as if the cop did something wrong...give me a break.
While your hippie ass is out protesting not being able to work, I'm sitting here wondering if I should spend the $285 for an aftermarket transmission pan for the HELL of it. Economy is great....why you don't think so I don't understand!!!

Yep, causing damage to city/state property that cost us as tax payers money. Oh, wait these people pay no to little taxes and want Government handouts. It does not matter if it caused injury or not. Cop was assaulted. Cop could have been easily injured as those bikes are not light.
The guy deserved to be tackled and should have been beat, stunned, and dragged behind the motorcycle to the paddy wagon.
Wow I bet their parents are proud of them *roll my eyes*
Because we all know this was a better system...LOL
Because the Rich don't have any problems either in life...LOL Someone watched too many movies.
Looks like another student with no life backing making claims they have no idea why. She looks like she should be making $10/hr working retail or at a gas station, at her age she thinks she should be making $100K a year....hmmmmm Probably still lives with mom & dad and has never tried or has yet to have a REAL career.
I guess I've looked a little closer.
I see quite a variety of citizens in those pics. It is easy to bash this movement as <insert whatever mindless insult the politicians love to see us make here>, but I see something very different in this. While there are elements of the typical misguided liberal assaults on capitalism, that is not what is driving these protests. Major financial institutions have committed crimes that have utterly devastated the economy and will hamper us for years.
People, thanks mainly to those outside the mainstream media, have begun to realize the extent of the looting that has occurred. If the politicians make the mistake of blithely dismissing these protests, it is going to turn out to be very costly for all of us. The law needs to apply equally to everyone. If I sold you something that I knew was garbage portrayed as a AAA investment, and fraudulently attested to as AAA by an "independent" agent, I would go to jail. I wouldn't get billions in money from the taxpayers.

I totally agree Dirk. My issue is, though SOME of the protesters are productive citizens with a clue instead of an unrealistic and thoughtless ideal, most seem to be the stoned/hippy/unrealistic/jobless/entitled douchebags angry at anything they don't personally make $$ on.
I'd be far more impressed if these were mostly working Americans not raised/existing on handouts that took time off from their JOBS to protest these financial atrocities. I also agree that instead of being handed bailouts and Golden Parachutes they should have been handed prison sentences of 20+ years.
"Crush Capitalism"? SRSLY? And replace it with what? Socialism? Oops! Wait, they did, in the ObaMao admin......

Well, we have no way of knowing for sure, but when I look at the pictures I posted from the Denver protests, I don't get the overwhelming feeling that the crowds are dominated by the types of people you describe. You know me well enough to know that I have little regard for those types. But, knowing how various sides in the mainstream media like to present skewed views of things, I have resisted the urge to have a knee-jerk reaction and simply dismiss these protests.
Yes, there are the usual troublemakers from both sides, but I see something very powerful brewing here among people in the middle class who have finally had enough of the bullshit from the politicians and those that have bought them off. This includes the bankers on the upper end of the economic scale, as well as the freeloaders on the other.
We shouldn't miss the opportunity to do something very constructive about the way the political system has devolved because we continue to let the politicians and their financial masters divide us. Very real crimes have been committed and we shouldn't let an aversion to the political ideals of the other side cause us to look away from those crimes. The Republicans and the Democrats have run this country into the ground. Let's hold their feet to the fire instead of continuing to snipe at each other. There is common ground for all of us to come together and do something constructive, as long as we're not afraid to let it happen.

It seems as though the Tea Party and Occupy movements share some common ground. Politics does indeed make for strange bedfellows. My issue with the Occupy protests in general is that a large portion of the protestors are there simply to "be part of the movement", without understanding WHAT they are protesting, or offering rational solutions. I also take issue with the portion of the group that feels that it's ok to flaunt the law (permits, private property trespass, usage rules for public property) on minute, then try to hide behind the First Amendment the next. It sounds like the movement is starting to cannibalize itself, though.
Thanks, Jim

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "undocumented pharmacist"
I was on Wall St a couple of weeks ago; I stayed at 75 Wall for a week. The stereotypes are absolutely true; the vast majority are hippy wannabes and all that goes with that. The message I got over and over was "I'm angry!; love everything; I hate Capitalism!; give me everything for free and make rich people pay for it!" and then all kinds of random completely unrealistic or even possible demands.
I wouldn't miss an opportunity to change our broken gov't, which is why the TEA party movement is so strong and so important. The OWS stuff is just anger without reason or logic. The TEA party is good for everyone, whereas the OWS is only good for the lazy, unwilling to work, and illogical.

A quick .02 cents because I really hate Political threads anymore and haven't felt a bit of drive to post in one.
But here's what I don't understand. Why is Capitalism getting such a bad rep?? Why does it sound like a good bunch of our own American citizens hate Capitalism?? I don't understand why the grotesque hatred for all things Capitalism..
Myself, I love Capitalism. I love the fact that what I earn, allows me to pay for the things I want/need. I love the fact of putting in a hard days work, only to be rewarded come paycheck time. I love being able to buy the truck I want and if I don't like it, trade it in and buy another one. I love being able to by my guns, then turn around and sell one if I get bored with it. Same goes for my guitars. If I want to buy five of them, only to turn around in a months time and sell them off to fund five more, I love being able to do that. The same went for motorcycles. I tried them all, ZX6R, R1, Hayabusa, Gixxer thou. Without Capitalism, I couldn't have done this.
When I was little, I saw how my folks struggled to make ends meet. My Mom and Dad both worked two jobs, in order to pay for my private schooling and to make a better life for us. When my mom finally landed a great job, it was cause for a celebration. Then when my dad finally moved up into better paying jobs, it was the same effect. Not ONCE!! did my parents complain that they didn't get stuff handed to them. Not ONCE, did they complain about having to drive beater cars in order to get by. Now, they've both got newer vehicles and a nice house. For years they rented.
But one thing they ingrained in me was this. "Work your ass off, and one day it will pay off." It's called "paying your dues" and I think for some reason this generation of people can't seem to get that through their thick heads. I've put the mantra my parents instilled in me to work and it has paid off nicely as well. I've busted my ass and paid my dues and now have a great job. I'm not making a $100k a year but I really don't care either. I make enough to pay for my bills and still allow the leg room to just blow some money from time to time, if I fee the need to.
Another thing I don't understand, is why people want "Free Shit". Yeah it's nice to snag something free every now and then but to demand it is a completely different ball of wax.
So maybe someone can enlighten me. Maybe someone can explain to me, where it says, "you're/we're supposed to demand free shit." Where it says, that others should pay for you and give you stuff. Where it says that, just because someone is wealthy, they should have to share it with others. Where is says that, because some people work their ass off to enjoy the things in life they like, they should also have to provide those same things for people that are to lazy to work.
I don't know, maybe I'm reading the wrong books and hanging out with the wrong people. Because everyone I know, thinks like I do. We all bust our asses to have a good living and buy the stuff we want and I don't know one of my friends or family that thinks someone else should OWE it to us or PROVIDE it to us for free.
My take is, I love Capitalism and pray to God it never goes away... Cause I've seen the alternatives tried in other countries and man it would suck to live elsewhere.

Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide."
"Finish today what others won't, so you can achieve tomorrow what others can't."
Agreed. The media shows what it wants and hides the rest, but it seems there are others there that agree with the stereotype, though that may not be true in every "occupied" city.
You are far too kind Dirk, I'd rather hold the politician's BALLZ to the fire!
It would be nice to actually see something big and powerful, and, best yet, COHESIVE, come out of this. United We Stand, divided THEY fall.

First - there are only a few people that claim to hate Capitalism. OWS is not so much a movement as it is a few people here and there who are unemployed and don't have anything better to do. In fact, in NYC, the OWS people themselves admitted that half of the people there were simply homeless people who were taking advantage of the free food/shelter/etc.
Second - the people who claim to hate Capitalism largely have no idea whatsoever what Capitalism is or what the alternatives to it are. In reality what they hate is Cronyism or Crony Capitalism, where the gov't decides who the winners and losers are rather than the people.
