That was the other thing they got me for when I had to put in a new water heater! They wouldn't even set foot in my basement unless I put in Carbon Monoxide testers in my basement and up stairs...guess new law now. Like I said they got me a bunch of places but I played by the rules...costed me extra, but like others have said I have learned to not cut corners on houses....plus gov always gets their money somehow.

Looks great! I love seeing the benefits of a little hard work!
Folks the house is 26 years old it's obviously not going to be settling any more and yes there may be soil movement however what you cant see in the pics is that the walls are not tight and in fact there is only one wall that isn't hanging. I definitely hung the wall that's on the main support beam because over time that beam will move.
The horizontal boards along the window were already installed with support boards nailed into the concrete i put in the vertical boards to hold the sheet rock. What some of you may not realize is that these walls are purely to hold sheet rock and nothing else they are not acting as joists at all.
treated lumber?

maybe you already knew then.... Just the ones in contact with concrete need to be treated. That way when temps change and condensation builds mold doesn't grow on the wood.

So nobody cares about the insurance thing on permits? That was the biggest scare that made me get permits. I work for insurances so I know they are going to look for any excuse to not pay out a claim!!!

another code thing to keep in mind, all smoke detectors must be wired in together per code. the battery operated ones are generally for when the power goes out but if the inspector is picky enough he will make you tie them in. not too big of a deal just giving you the heads up (thats what the red wire will be in the junction box of a smoke detector in case your curious )you could save your self the headache and run wire while everything is still exposed. looks good grim!

Fine...I take that as a no on the insurance worries
This is why insurances win in the end and make so much money SUCKAS!!!!

Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.
