Fixing the stator on a daytona 675. Should I replace R/R too?

Well Im 99% sure my stator went out on the daytona 675. Was running fine yesterday, and went out to start today and it just cranks without firing.

When I replace the stator should I replace the rectifier regulator while im at it? I know the 675's are prone to bad R/R's so I figured while I have the bike apart...

Also, awhile ago someone posted in one of my wanted to buy threads on a aftermarket R/R for these bikes. But its been past 45 days and my thread was cleared and I cant find the link to that R/R for the daytona.

Anyone know who or where or what site that was?

Also, This is the first time I have replaced a stator. Pretty straight forward?

Thanks for the help! Hopefully I can get this fixed soon.

Well a stator problem would be more like if you were riding along and the bike just dies because the battery won't hold a charge... if the bike has power and it cranks over but won't turn over then it's a spark/fuel problem possibly.

Stators are stupid easy. Old one off, new one in, and some Permatec RTV where the charging wire comes out of the case (at least on my Hondurr). I would definitely check the wiring around your R/R while you are doing work on the moto. Any visibly burnt/charred/discolored wires near the unit could mean bad news. Since you are going to want to check volts out of the new stator when its in, check volts out of the R/R as well. Your service manual should have the parameters or you could call any decent shop get the volts you should be seeing.

R/R is well known for being faulty on the 675's I would start with that.

Apparently the crank position sensor is intergrated in the stator on a triumph and thats the actual part that went out. But I have to replace the whole thing as one unit. Ugh.. Still trying to remember that link someone said about a really nice aftermarket R/R that I should upgrade to. I may just get one off Ricks electronics found here> http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics....lEYXl0b25hNjc1
