You never really get going fast enough on the ride to get cold- wear your normal gear and you'll probably be just fine- there's just not enough speed involved to generate a good wind chill. Last year I wore a sweater under my coat and got too hot. Tunnel vision? Do you need some cold weather pointers?
Naaa, dont need any tips, its just driving an hour when its in the 20's gets me kinda num

I’ve never ridden...watched them all pass by my house. All kinds of bikes are represented, but it’s 99% cruisers (mostly HD). I’ll try to hook up sooner rather than later with our group.

Anyone from the Springs going on this ride? If I go, don't really want to ride up alone.

    From the RMHD website:

"Because so many sick and injured children look forward to this event, this ride will take place regardless of the weather. If it's too cold, snowy, or slick to ride your motorcycle, get in your car and come anyway!"

I'll go. Even though I'm working a night shift before hand, I will trot up to denver. I believe this is a very cool gesture for the kids in that hospital.

yzfdarren, I'll ride up with ya.
    Let's try this again!

Forecast is looking good. Did I mention that it takes a good 30 minutes for all the bikes to pass by...it’s quite a sight to behold.

Does anyone know if we have to have forms filled out to ride again? I didn't see anything on the RMHD website. Maybe they're not doing the release to save time.

The HOG chapter sez the release is required ------ but I doubt they will sic the police on yer arse if you don't fill one out. It's out on the HOG site.

If you don't bring it, they will give you one to sign as you pull in, same as always. Yes you DO have to sign this, it's how they free themselves from liability in case you bin it while on the ride, don't expect to get past them without handing a completed waiver in.

    Ralph,

I am having a hard time finding the form we need to sign and bring...will you put the link in here so I can directly get to it...

I think my browser must be incompatible with the RMHD site, because it was all broken up and overlapping images with text...

anyway, I would be most grateful for your help with this!

    FORM

Because this is sponsored in part by the ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOG organization, and NOT solely by RMHD, they are the ones that are requireing the Release Form.

    I just called them.

They are getting A LOT of stuffed animals, and gifts for the younger kids... however, they need more gifts for the older children and encouraged me to bring something for them.

Just thought I would pass this along.

I was going to print some out and bring photocopies to the pre-ride assembly, but I couldn't find it on the RMHD webpage for this year's ride.

I called them and asked where on the website it was. They said it was NOT on the webiste because last year some people were missed and this year, everybody will be filling them out at the staging area.

I have no idea how that can be faster, but I was told that they have a streamlined process.

I don't know if the form on the RMHOG site will be accepted or not (it probaby will), but it is definatly different from last year's form.

What works for older kids? Playstation's a little out of my price range right now.

The lady I spoke with offered a few suggestions...

Books, CD's, Movies, Make-up kits (???), puzzles, models...

I am either going to run over to the hobby store and get a model, or to the sporting goods store and get a basketball.

The Chicago Toy Run actually wouldn't accept stuffed animals, and really encouraged sporting goods.

I wouldn't get a basketball. Can they go outside and play with it? That's what Kim wanted to get and I told her the same thing...

Edit: My bad, it's on the their list...

    Sixty minutes of PRIDE!!!!

I took this years parade off to spectate and timed the parade @ 60 minutes of BIKERS!!! AWESOME. I was standing by Peaberry's on Santa-Fe w/ a decent sized crowd,(coffee in hand of course) and my wife daughter & her little friend were all giving the sportbike riders the "hang-loose" wave/sign.

I recognized Nick Ninja,(who seemed to be running late) and Spidey, I'll assume that wheelie was for me & my girls.

Anyhow, nice turn out for sure. Glad ya'll had great wx.It was fun to watch the constant stream of rockets,(the most fun) bikes/trikes/rigs & even a few muscle cars @ the end,(albeit I will resume my more natural position next year)

Great job giving out the hand loose!

There were a few of us "sporters" at the front, in front of the fire truck, so hopefully when they show the parade on the news there will be a few fast bikes caught on tape.

60 minutes of bikes - WOW!!! That is a lot of bikes!!!

great fun, glad we did it this year!

Thanks Ralph and Spidey for getting everything planned for the club.
