highside? never. I just fly away. nothing to see here.
A funny guy huh! Well then, you really need to wintness a bad wreck then or go volunteer in a hospital ER for a night to see how fragile life is then and how horrible it can be. I have a uncle who use to think like you, and got in a wreck and has been a parapelgic for the last 30 years; and had over 50 surgeries for it.
But hey, you must think you are invinsible so good luck.....as you get more experienced you will realize the track is the place to push it and not the canyons.

I rarely think of motorcycles without a little yearning. They are about moving, and humans, I think, yearn to move – it’s in our cells, in our desires. We quiet our babies with cyclic movement, and we quiet ourselves by going.

No I agree and honestly it made me re-think always needing to be the guy at the front of the pack to look cool. One thing about me is I am ok with hurting myself, but hurting someone else is what would really tear me apart. Now I just ride to enjoy it and realize that not coming in at the front of a group ride doesn't make me slow...just smart.
Again, sorry about that, but it really did help me homey

He doesn't always ride by himself but when he does he is alone
Very entertaining thread. Sorry to hear another noob learning lessons the hard way, but very good reading otherwise.
Unfortunately Bueller usually keeps his cynicism to himself.

So Grim and Zack, do you guys use your DRZ/KX's on street and dirt? Is it a good option for both or a pain because of tires?

This has probably been covered elsewhere, but:
Our whole group (besides Grim who crashes on lightly sandy asphalt) is pretty comfortable on dirt. I even take it to rampart once a year to run with those crazy dirt guys. I can usually keep up with Bueller until I get tired and/or he goes man mode.
IMO tires aren't an issue since usually you are doing more asphalt than dirt or at least close to 50/50. I have outridden people on knobbies on dirt in quit a few instances, but that really isn't as much as function of the bike/equipment as it is of the rider being comfortable on the feel of dirt and just not giving a fuck about going down on dirt.
There are some awesome routes that are very nice and super easy on a sumo that a sportbike would suck on / just couldn't do near the front range here, one of our more common ones being the loop around Wellington Lake down by Buffalo Creek.
