    Question gas tank clean up

So started working on the R6 race project for next season this afternoon and need to clean out the gas tank, as the gas in there has been old now and is starting to tarnish the tank. What's a good way to clean out the tank? I'll be running some 44k afterwards to run through the pump, lines and injectors with the fresh gas once the tank is clean, any help and tips are appreciated!

There's this stuff, but your tank may not be that bad. Kind of a PITA to use too.

Gunk from gas, or rust? Clean up is different.

I didn't see any rust by just looking down there but I'm going to drain the tank completely tomorrow and see what it looks like. The owner said he out fuel stabilizer but the bike was sitting for over a year.

    Re: gas tank clean up

If you don't find any rust then just taking out the fuel pump and cleaning the tank with a good solvent (parts cleaner, non-chlorinated brake cleaner or the likes) will be more than adequate. Use these things on the metal tank only as they may have undesired effects on plastic or rubber parts. Let it dry thouroughy and reassemble. Take the TB,s completely off and clean them up.

You should then be good to go!
