Been to the dragstrip plenty times in my car. But first time at the track, any tips at the track that are different from the street?
Also, what track should I got to and when do they usually open in this state?

Bandimere is the premier strip in the area, try to go on a Wednesday during "test & tune" if you arrive when gates open at 4 you'll get a good number of runs in.
Down south is PMP and that's about it for 1/4 mile drag.
At any new track I suggest going to watch a few runs before you line up just to figure out where the water box, staging lights, etc. are and the flow of the staging lanes.
The only thing I discovered when I took the bike vs the car was the sheer amount I had to rev the bike to get a decent 60' The tire just sticks so you'll bog out of the hole if you don't get aggressive with the throttle (watch for those wheelies though)

Definitely watch for the wheelies!!

Better to use clutch or rear brake on the track for wheelie control?

Wouldn't hurt to keep your foot by the rear brake just in case for sure. I've only ran out there once in my K7 gixxer. Did a 12.1@121 and got kicked out lol

Be careful launching your bike on a prepped track vs. the street is completely different. Go out and make some easy launches at first as the track will be alot more sticky than what your use to and wheelies can be a problem. On the start line, start going when you see the 3rd amber light go in. If you go when the lights already turned green you will have a very bad reaction time. Last but not least, just have fun with it and dont worry about the guy next to you.
