CSC Goes to Durango 2014!
Date updated to the following weekend!
Looking for one last "hurrah" of the 2014 riding season? Want to ride with your favorite forum members? Want to experience a "Clovis Ride" but without the "Clovis Pace"? Then this CSC ride is for you!
What it is: A two day ride with an overnight stay in Durango, CO!
Pace: Spirited but reasonable. Ride your own ride. If you're slower, we won't leave you behind! We'll wait at every turn off.
Skill level: Advanced Beginner to intermediate. This is a very fun but not terribly difficult or dangerous ride. I completed this same ride with 2 months riding experience back in the day. Follow the rule of riding your own ride and within your skill level and you will do just fine!
Everyone will be provided a map with mark way points noting fuel stops and highway changes.
Meet: Jan's Restaurant in Buena Vista.
304 U.S. 24, Buena Vista, CO 81211
719) 395-6940
8AM if you want some amazing breakfast! 9AM if you skip breakfast (or run late). Lunch will be in Ouray just before tackling Million Dollar Highway!
9AM Be gassed and ready to depart!
Gear: Really up to you. Without a Helmet, Jacket and Gloves at a minimum.
Note on packing: I highly recommend a tail bag over a oversized tank bag or a back pack. A back pack will work but you will be much more comfortable with the bag strapped via a cargo type net over your tail or passenger seat.
Estimated Cost: $200 for fuel, lodging and food.
Hotel: Most likely will be at the Iron Horse Inn. Friendly hotel and typically the host for this trip and recently completed their renovation process! The rooms are 2 levels and huge by motel standards!
Route:
Day 1: http://goo.gl/maps/UjrUc
451 miles (from Colorado Springs. Denver area add 10-20 miles.

424 Miles (To Colorado Springs)

Figure a round trip of at least 900 miles. If the group is interested in adding 100 miles to Day 2, I have a much more interesting route for back home that takes us through New Mexico! Highway 64 speed sweepers, Carson National Speedway, Taos, Cimarron National Raceway, Cuchara Pass, Bishop's castle.
