    Since most sportbikes have riveted chains I don't think there is much danger of soaking them.

    How does riveted vs. clip type make a difference?

    Actually the other way around, you have to break a riveted chain, whereas the clip master comes apart easier and is reusable.

    That being said, the DID site used to recommend using Kerosense to clean as well as the back of the box that the chain comes in. I've used the stuff for years without issue and it cleans effectively, and I've never had an o-ring let go because of it.

    I have been using Honda's HP lube for post cleaning and been pleased with it as well because it goes on and then the liquid evaporates off leaving a dry film of lubricant (teflon I think). Again, been using it for years without any issues.
