USB Power

I stole Devaclis' idea about mounting a Cigarette lighter for a power source, but then I wanted to take it to the next level...
After figuring out how to build one, I did a search and found this.

Didn't see it posted here yet, and I know most everyone who rides further than the next bar could use one of these, so enjoy!

I just ordered one so next week I'll update with how it works (and if it fries my phone).

I like that! I wonder if you can run a couple off of the battery? I don't see why not. Then you don't have to remember all of your chords. Plus you can charge cameras and other shit too.

Re: USB Power

I considered putting one of those on the Duc, but in the end I decided to stick w/ a cig power source. This way it can stay universal, just swap out the adapter and go...

ordered one of these from touratech

Be sure to let us know how it works out for you though... I am curious.

Re: USB Power

That's sick that they do it with the SAE plug too. I've already got one of those on the bike for the battery tender. Convenient quick hookup.

It amuses me that a musical demi-god misuses "chords" and "cords".

But yeah, that's a sweet idea and I am going to install some. Cig lighter plugs are bulky as hell compared to the typical iPhone cable, etc. Nice find!

Re: USB Power

the brit has a factory powerlet receptacle...had to get the male end from a JD dealer, but then I wired a few USBs underneath the seat.

this is a slick little package though...if only I could find a waterproof USB hub

I didn't even notice that! Demi-god...hmmmm, I don't know if I should be flattered or offended? I'll be flattered.

Re: USB Power

Yeah, the bottle opener is my next addition.

I think the "Safety Third" sticker would be a requirement at that point.

Re: USB Power

On a side note, now that cigarette lighters are becoming optional equipment i wonder if the industry will go to a smaller power connector or is the 'cigarette lighter adapter' just too entrenched??

Re: USB Power

Here is what I am getting for power. Just to plug my phone in while I am riding. But it works for everything.
