FAASST event on Pueblo's new pavement! June 29th

That's right, we are one of the first to get on the fresh pavement down at Pueblo Motorsports Park. The event will run open lapping for all types of bikes. If you're new to road racing, you will be in good hands with Faasst.

Where: Pueblo Motorsports Park
When: June 29th 7am-5pm
What: Road course track time
How: Register on www.faasst.com
(Click on "guest open lapping-Bikes" in the online store)
Cost: $120 full day only until June 16th (price will go up after June 16th)
Contact: Reply here, PM me, or call FAASST at 719-761-1372

Requirements: All bikes must be able to pass the bike tech form here (This event is ok for new riders, ignore the experience part.)

Basically make sure your bike doesn't leak, water instead of coolant(MRA rules on water wetters), a helmet, full leathers (2-piece is ok), gloves that go to forearm, boots that cover shin area, and don't walk around in your undies in the pits... Post any questions here, or PM me. If this is your first time on a road course, IT WILL BE OK. There will be a mandatory rider's meeting the morning of the event. We will have most of the corners staffed and the Bambalance will be on site.

The track IS paved, I've seen it myself. Faasst is having a huge car day on June 10th as well so we will try and put some rubber down! Only real concern is some back filling right now. Oh and SHARE THIS THREAD!

Oh damn! This would be a blast! Dont see me being able to make it though, being as I'd have to purchase leathers, gloves, and boots(I need a new trans for the cage.....$1100 ).

Take tons of pics! I've been following the repave since it got started last fall. Definitely looks like the track fINALLY got exactly what it needed.

Re: FAASST event on Pueblo's new pavement! June 29th

Goes to $140 after deadline.

Should have a great car turnout to "unslick" the track for ya. Wait until you see turn 10. Faasst is working on getting some more lapping days this summer for cars and bikes, but I'm unsure of the details/possiblity just yet. I'll keep everyone posted though.

What's the timeline look like for the day of? I might have to work but I can probably get off early if I don't miss too much.

I'd say if you can't make it before 1pm, it may not be worth the trip for ya. It's a good day to take leave on...

Forgot to mention, the concession stand is now operational and will be running. Prices are reasonable too.

Re: FAASST event on Pueblo's new pavement! June 29th

Gates open at 7am, go hot around 8-9am depending on track conditions, shutting down around 4 depending on when they need to set up for drag racing. Track will be hot all day except for short delays for clean ups and/or session changes. Most riders get tired way before the track day is over. Easily get more than a few hours of track time throughout the day. Judy will send out a schedule to all registered peeps prior to the event.

Re: FAASST event on Pueblo's new pavement! June 29th

Got my 1SG to give me the day off! Still have 2 quick questions before I register though:

1. I don't have a racing license or verifiable track experience. I am an AMA Competition member. The FAASST website mentions a requirement for verifiable track experience, is this true here?

2. Do I need a CE rated back protector?

Let me so ASAP so I can sign up please!

The back protector is up to you. I didn't ride with one, but most riders do recommend them. If you don't fall down, you can ride naked.... lol

Re: FAASST event on Pueblo's new pavement! June 29th

Ok, so we had a GREAT turnout for our June 10th car day. The track was in great shape with a few minor notes I'll add below to the pictures. I'll admit the surface felt a little slick at first but by around 11AM, you could really see a layer of rubber being put down and it felt like glue. I was only one second slower than the old pavement/turn 10. I wasn't going all out so I have faith the new configuration and pavement will drop everyone's times to record breaking laps. Here's some pics I took:

Front straight- pavement/concrete transition (almost even with the tower now)

Pit on exit ( no more huge bump merging on, but is still narrow)

turn 1 (it's strange to see grass around the track now...)

turn 1 exit

turn 2

turn 3

turn 4

Re: FAASST event on Pueblo's new pavement! June 29th

looking down to turn 5

turn 6's entrance ( smoother transition up top, no more bump)

Had camera issues until turn 9...but 7 and 8 are great with 8 not having a bump over the entrance road. Turn 9 seen below has a transition from digging a drainage ditch. It's smooth, but is starting to see wear and there are plans for repair. The curbing was lowered and about 1000x's times better than the previous 'ramp.'

exiting turn 9

And the new turn 10- You can see our rubber lines through the turn. The cones did keep everyone from trying to straddle the cement. (they were set up on the inside of the cement) If you turn in to early, it puts you out on the outer edge of the exit that the drag racers do not have rubber on and it is SLICK. It was sticker at the end of the day, but I recommend trying to get upright and follow the left drag lane down the straight for better traction. I was keeping my apex at the corner with a late turn in and it felt smooth without ANY real transistion... on 4 wheels that is...
