    Re: 1st (annual?) SoWeCo Ride - June 30/July 1 - Fricken awesome!

I lost my old photo hosting service and am going to get a smugmug account soon. Until then, here's a story I'm sure you'll really like.

I was a little concerned about the stretch of 550 between Silverton & Ouray. The last time I rode that piece, traffic was really slow & heavy. My hands hurt just thinking about it. While everyone else decided to manage their hangovers & stomachs in Silverton, RYBO and I headed out and left word with Molly to meet us at the Shell in Ridgeway.

It was a good call. Imagine two big boned sport tourers loaded up like the space shuttle blasting through the mountains. We had the road to ourselves (pic proof to follow later). I was just a little too busy riding to take many shots, but you could randomly fire a camera blindfolded in that area and find good scenery. The few cages we encountered were quick to let us by.

I called my wife for an update once we got to 2nd breakfast in Ridgeway. My wife shared an exchange with my daughter (2&1/2) and said I should pass it on.

We hardly ever let her watch TV in the morning. Sometimes when there's just 1 parent at home, you just have to so you can get everybody ready.

Danielle: Do you want to watch TV this morning?
    Keely: Where's my dada?
D: He's out riding motorcycles today.
K: Dada ride the black bike?
    D: No.
    K: Dada ride the BabyDuc?
    D: No.
K: Dada rid the yellow bike?
D: Dad is riding Mama's bike.
    K: (Making 2.5 Y.O. MC noises) b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b--b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-!
D: Yes, like that. Do you want to watch TV?
    K: Yeah!
D: Do you want to watch balloons? (sunrise earth on HD- perfect AM choice)
    K: I wanna watch motorcycles!

They ended up watching day 2 AMA superbikes in UT again together.
RYBO remarked that I need to pick up a 125 and a manual soon.

This is how group rides SHOULD go down! Collectively we clocked 10,000 miles....halfway around the world. I had a great time and can't wait for next year.

OK, that's just cuter than a box of puppies.
(Especially liked the rundown of the various bikes.)

Looks like you all had a great time. I’ll go next year. I’ll be pre-riding my bike tour in two weeks on the same roads. Did you run into any major road construction projects?

I gotta get a new rear tire after that ride...it's getting an oklahoma flat strip. Darn, guess i'll have to stick to the twisties.
I'll be working on a Safeway in Denver for 20days this month. I think I'm gonna ride my bike up there and stay in a hotel(on the company's $). I'll have to hit some of you peeps up and ride some

Ha! My Avons are sport touring tires. Got them in April at about 7200 miles. I've got over 12,000 on the Zed now and noticed that flat top you speak of today when I was out and about. Yep, looks like new tires here, too. Oh and keep us Northies in mind when you get to Denver.

Is this thing on? Am I doing this right?

Lunch in Buena Vista: Cary Grant, representing.
This would be Firegixx (some would call it a feminine name) on the right.

I like to let people pass 1 by 1 and snap a few. My timing must have been especially bad that day. This is the only one that turned out.

    Slumgullion & Spring Creek absent.

N_N's clutch was starting to complain too much. At South Fork, we broke from the pack and stuck to a mellow pace. Too bad we couldn't find any scenery.

Nothing. I mean, how boring a county is this?

Well, aside from a few man made structures of interest...

On to Durango... into the sunset.

I was hoping that another shot of the rock formation in the background would turn out. It was especially funny because one of the riders in front was making kind of a groping/stroking gesture at it. I must have been laughing too hard.
