Rider Down on Sat morning ride

This morning coming back down from nederland on hwy 72 about 2 miles from the bottom, Nick (aka Centrios) went down right in front of me in a corner in a low-side crash. Emergency response was amazing and they were there within only a few minutes of our call.

I've been calling St Anthony Central, which is where the EMTs said they were taking him, but they are telling me that he's not there. Joecycle and I stuck around until the tow truck showed up to get his bike, and I have all the info for him.

There's a possibility he broke his ankle, but he was conscious after the accident, and I'm sure he'll be fine. His bike on the other hand... definitely a total loss.

    Here's to a speedy recovery!

I found him. Looks like they diverted him to Lutheran. Had to call dispatch to find out where they sent him. He was in the middle of getting patched up, so I'll call later and find out how he's doing.

That sucks. Guess by splitting off early I missed the crash. I didn't feel like stopping for breakfast and I wanted to get a few miles on today.

    Heal up quick, Nick.

Just got off the phone with him. He's ok, but they're just about to run a cat scan on his ankle because they couldn't tell if it was broken or not from the x-ray.

He sounds like he's in good spirits, and his family was there with him. Tow truck driver said that it's a common corner for motorcycle accidents.

My hands are STILL shaking from it all!

Actually, I'm the only one that didn't miss it. Being that I was at the end of the group, and there was some space between Nick and the riders ahead, nobody else saw it. Joecycle and nick_ninja made it to the bottom and became immediately concerned and headed back up.

I hope that Nick doesn't have a broken ankle. Jersey Barricades are not soft like an air-fense. Get better soon Nick.

Honestly, please don't think I'm preaching.

It was good Nick was wearing full gear. It wasn't leathers, but jacket, pants, boots, helmet, gloves. His forearm of the jacket was shredded and therefore his forearm was scraped but it didnt look like anything more than rugburn. When he finally came to rest his head was up against the jersey wall. I didn't get a good look at the helmet but you get the point.

    +1 to you NICK!

yes sir.... those jerzey barriers can be very humbling. the gear, along with the bike can be replaced. i keep my damaged helmet beside my alarm clock to remind me how things were and how they could have been.... Healing takes some time so if you want it to work well, give it the time that it takes. On almost every day, I've got a 3 hour block of time where I can help. Let me know. I will PM my cell (phone) number.
