    Re: Project R6 is done

So was it your bike that was crashed, or did you but it as just a carcass and rebuild it from there? And its still probably way out of my budget, but do you have a price in mind yet? I know this also conflicts with the last question (turn of profit) but how much did it cost to rebuild it and how long did that take?

It never hurts to keep an eye out for your next bike, at least thats what I tell myself.

    Re: Project R6 is done

    Thanks for the kudos everyone!

Basic story of this project was:

I bought a 2004 R6 in perfect shape, but with no title.
I then bought a wrecked 2003 R6 with a blown motor, but a good title.
So, I took everything off of the '04 and put it on the '03. A "frame" swap if you like.
Took about a week and a half to do the whole project, probably 25 hours total.

It was a fun project to do, and definitely made easier having two bikes to work with, building one up from scratch is way harder (which is why the F2 project isn't done yet).

My reasons for doing the project were that I really enjoy projects like these, and I hope to make a couple of bucks off of it too.

I'll be selling it probably by this weekend, and will post up when I do. Asking around $5000 for it.

    Re: Project R6 is done

ha, I guess that would be the best and cheapest way to do it! I was thinking that you'd had it for a while and slowly bought parts for it on eBay or at the junkyard.

I used to do the same thing with bicycles. I'd pick up old frames from the recycling center, clean em up, throw parts on them and build up either geared or fixed bikes for people on craigslist. I definitely made a little profit, but it wasn't worth the amount of time I put into them...more of just a fun hobby to do!
