Unhappy Pueblo racer passes away in the pits.

I came across this in one of my other forums. Since many of you are connected to others in racing there is a good chance a few of you had spent time with Ellis.

For those of you who have not yet heard, our friend and LoCo member
Ellis Cahn died of a heart attack in the paddock at Pueblo Motorsports
    Park this past Friday.

Ellis had run his Lotus type 23 during the RMVR test & tune, in
preparation for this past weekend's race, and was relaxing in the pits
    with his fellow racers.

I for one have several Ellis stories, particularly from the days when
RMVR ran at Steamboat Springs. He was always a very good friend and
very fun to be with. He will most certainly be missed.

I don't think I ever met the gentleman, but none the less,
    RIP Ellis, RIP Racer.

:-( Very sad to hear...he was acquainted with my parents, and I remember his car quite well. He was a great guy, fun to be around.

RIP Racer, I suppose that he passed away surrounded by friends and the pastime that he loved. Not entirely a bad way to go.

Now that you mention it, I believe you're right. He went out with his "boots" on.

Ellis WAS among friends and fellow racers. I was with him when he passed. Yes, I held his hand, spoke quietly in his ear and wished him Godspeed as he left us. Everyone did everything possible to keep him here but it truly was his time and nothing was left undone to try and change the result. I assure everyone his passing was peaceful and filled with love. He was such a great, funny and devoted racer. He will be missed.

    Earlene,

Your love and compassion is overwhelming. I can only hope that when my time comes someone like you will be there to take care of my final moments in this world.

    Amen to that.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
