Thumbs up Price of gas coming down?!?

I searched extensively but couldn't find any threads that talked about the price of gas coming down - I know it was a big deal when they kept going up, and everybody was bitching and complaining (myself included), but they've gone down almost $1.00/gal in the past month alone (almost $1.50/gal from May, IIRC), and nobody's so much as said a peep (if they have, I missed it, and I apologize).

I filled up last night, and paid $2.659 for mid-grade!

    I just wanted to say:
    - it's nice to fill up the bike for less than $12 again!
    - I hope this trend continues (I know gas prices usually go down in the fall, but I hope it doesn't stop where it is now, and doesn't go orbital again next summer)

And I hope this upward roller-coaster effect isn't just to get us used to increasingly higher prices!

There's a Western Convenience that's just W. of I-25 on the Thornton Parkway. (less than a mile)

It's been in the $2.5X range for awhile now. 85 Octane.

    EDIT: They're at $2.46 currently. $2.56 for 87

I remember when it wasn't double-digits to fill up a bike.

Even with OPEC cutting production, price of oil is still dropping...

Ok...yeah, $2.50 is better than $4.00+, but it's still too fuxin high. Has anyone else noticed that a mouse fart in the Gulf will send gas prices skyrocketing overnight, but now that oil is half the price it was in July, the prices are just beginning to come back down? Shouldn't they be about $1.75 now?

It'd be nice if airline flights started reflecting the cheaper gas prices too...

Re: Price of gas coming down!

With seasonal trends (and the fact that we're in a season where prices historically drop anyway) it may be difficult to discern if a drop in price is due to the election, or just normal for the season... unless it's a significant drop, of course.

Re: Price of gas coming down?!?

It's not really the election bringing the price down as it's that Oil Inventories post Hurricane Gustav have been replenished and are back online, as well as Oil Stock Prices have plummeted in the market. Oil has gone from $147 per barrel to just about $65 (as of a couple days ago).

It's a result of the global recession (not just our own). Once the global economy gets fixed, it'll go back up. Last time it happened in the 1980's, oil prices stayed down for over a decade. Many <fingerquote>experts</fingerquote> don't think it'll last that long this time around though.
