    New Toy

I would like to welcome a new toy the box. A Springfield XDm .40
No didnt buy cause of all this talk. I've wanted an XD for a lot time now, and i heard that the M series was coming out in back in march, so i waited. And the best part is im glad i did.

Just for you gun nerds (like me)
Trigger pull is short, feels to be about 9-10 pounds for tigger pull.
Match Grade Barrel with a new heavy dudy recoil spring.
Works like a dream, the recoil really surprised me. I was expecting a lot more snap. It felt like i was firing a 9mm.
Also has the ability to change the back straps to fit you hand.
One of the easier guns i've ever held, very ergonomic.
    16+1 capacity!

    Things i didnt like,
The sights, going to have to replace those soon,
The rear-mounted grip saftey, (i hate these in general)
and no manuel saftey. ( i just like these )

All and all, first 50 rounds, my groupings seemed to be in area of a post card at 25 yards! (also please let me point out the last time i went out shooting was back in july) Grouping just kept getting tighter over the next 100 rounds.

Anyway enough teasing, here are pic's of the gun

I had an XD-40 for awhile. One of the best handguns I've ever shot.

After shooting up at the camp the last 2 times I will say that the 40 is fun, but the 9mm is sooo much cheaper to just target shoot with.

    Re: New Toy

I still haven't made my mind up about the .40 S&W.
I really wish the .38/.357 combo worked on semi-auto and not just revolvers
(With one or two obscure exceptions and of course the .357 sig)
But rimmed cases never work well in autos.

I may just have pick up another revolver. Hell, If I can't hit it in 6 shots I deserve to die.

Till then my 1911 is by baby.

    most excellent

I thought it was a little heavy to. but it lets you know you want to fire it. I found that after 100 rounds, it felt a little easier. So they probably just tighted the preload down a ton, and now its just breaking in. I imagine after a few hundred more rounds it sound set in right around 7 pounds... At least i hope so
