well it's not their cash crop from the smell of things!
some boulderites that came into our clinic within the last hour said it's a structure fire, others say it's a forest fire.
    who knows?
    it's a fire of sort-------and it stanks

Coming from the lower hills off Neva Rd. and Foothills Pkwy. It's ranch land area. Also sounds like close to the IBM campus. They're having to evacuate people and are concerned about horses, etc.

Woah...just watched the newcaster get told to leave the area. Watched the flames come over a hill crest in like seconds.

Cath, did it jump 36 yet?

With the wind and the dry conditions this could seriously suk. I really hope they can control it. I have no idea how big it is yet though.

There are two unrelated fires burning -- and with these winds, both are dangerous.

We can shine the Al Gore light onto the smoke cloud rising off the fire.

It was looking big...but what's weird is that much of what the news crew was filming...the fire went back on itself or flared up again over an area it had already touched. I dunno if many are familiar with the area...but it's close to the Left Hand Canyon turn-off. Just south of that and also close to Lee Hill Road.

I watched the fire leap the road while the reporter was talking and when it got to the open field on the East side of the road, it just ran across the field within seconds.

Anyhoo, you guys can watch the news.

Fires happen. It's been windy and dry on this side of the mountains, so meh...

Wow, >11,200 homes evacuated now. Hopefully the winds die down soon!

Wildland grass fires can be nasty stuff. It's amazing how fast those flames will spread with a little wind and some dry grass.

I know that Jeffs Elephant beer is OK. I have not heard an elevation to DEFCON 4 on the scanner. Jeff, you OK? What's the beer situation there? Can you get AM radio?

No E-beer tonight. Assisting the burn victims. Been a tough afternoon / evening. I haven't listened to AM radio since the late '70's --- why should I start now?
